This section of the site details Rae's history on wax chronologically, including his own albums and all his guest appearances (or as many as I can find, in any case). All song titles with links feature Raekwon and clicking on the links will reveal the song lyrics. |
(Note: credit should go where credit is due, and most of the lyric links you will find on this site are actually links to the Original Hip-Hop Lyrics Archive. I don't think they mind.) |
For the very few that don't know yet, the Wu-Tang Clan is an extremely influential hip-hop group which originally included eight members and has been a dominant force in the music industry for many years. The group's debut album, Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), was an raw hip-hop classic and is widely considered one of the greatest albums of all time. The members of the group on this first album were MC's Raekwon, GZA, Ol' Dirty Bastard, Inspecta Deck, Ghostface Killah, U-God, Method Man and MC/Producer RZA. Raekwon had a number of prominent appearances on the album, most notably his verse on "Can It Be All So Simple" and the classic "C.R.E.A.M.". |

Method Man was the first of the Wu-Tang members to release a solo album, Tical. Raekwon had a guest appearance on the superb track "Meth vs. Chef", dueling Method. |

The second Wu solo, Return To The 36 Chambers, belonged to the Clan's court jester, the Ol' Dirty Bastard. Raekwon appeared on a cut with Ol' Dirty and Method Man, called "Raw Hide". |
Raekwon the Chef's first solo joint, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx..., is the album for which he is most widely known for and is considered by most to be his greatest accomplishment to date. Actually, the album wasn't exactly a solo album; although Raekwon gets more shine than any other MC on the disc, most of the other Wu-Tang MCs also appear on several cuts, along with outsiders Nas, Blue Raspeberry, and 62nd Assassin. The most important of the guest MCs is undeniably fellow Wu member Ghostface Killah, who tag-teams with the Chef on 11 of the 16 songs and recieves one solo song as well. The album is produed entirely by the RZA, with some assistance from the 4th Disciple on two songs. Regardless of the team effort, this album is clearly Raekwon's show. Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... established Rae's skill as a crime storyteller and created his mafioso-gangsta theme which would later be bitten by nearly every rapper in the mainstream for several years. The essential Raekwon the Chef album. |

After the success of Raekwon's solo joint, it was only a matter of time before the Wu-Tang tried to recreate his incredible partnership with Ghostface Killah. Thus Ironman was released, once again teaming up the two MCs, and adding Cappadonna to the unit as well. Unlike Only Built 4 Cuban Linx..., Ironman had the Chef playing the sidekick to Ghostface's front man, since Ghost had not released an official solo album yet. Raekwon appears on 12 of the 16 tracks. |
