The offspring were the first decent group i got into. I Bought their 'Smash' Album in 1996 and iv been totally hooked since then! Had it not been for them i might still be into the likes of Stephen Gately and Steps OH THE SHAME! |
The Band was started in 1988 by Dexter Holland(vocals) his school Janitor buddy Kevin 'Noodles' Wasserman (guitares) along with bassist Greg Krissel and drummer Ron Welty. They released their self titled Debut album in 1989.Four years later, their second album 'Ignition' became an underground hit. It wasnt until 1994, however that they acheived wide success with their album 'Smash' (my personal favorite)and the subsequent singles which spawned off it. |

The Offspring Have Released 6 Albums, as well as numerous compilations and soundtracks. In my opinion, thier best Album is "Smash". I like them all but my least favorite is probably "Conspiricy Of One" |
In 1996 the band made the contreversial move from Epitaph Records to Columbia. This lost them a lot of their hardcore punk fans, due to their major label status, which is dumb as they still rock! Their fourth album 'Ixnay On The Hobre' failed to match the success of its predessor, but its still one of my faves, especially 'I Choose' Americana (released in 1998) scored the number two single 'Pretty Fly For A White Guy' making the band more mainstream still, i loved Americana but I dont think its as good as the ealier stuff! 'Conspiciry Of One' followed in 2000, the band made contreversial headlines when they offered the album free to internet users, after a lawsuit was threatened, they withdrew the offer. |
