  1. Mike began playing the guitar shortly before the Monkees to regain dexterity in his fingers after a firecracker accident.
  2. Mike recorded two singles for Colpix (later Colgems) before the Monkees under the name Michael Blessing.
  3. Mike's mother Bette Nesmith invented Liquid Paper.
  4. Mike was the only Monkee who saw the famous ad in the Variety paper.
  5. Mike had the wool hat before the Monkees.
  6. In the pilot he is refered to as Woolhat.
  7. Mike was married before the Monkees began.
