Pretty soon it was my turn in front of the big guy with the moustache and a little beard.....later he would turn out to be the first person who believed in me.....my very first Director Mr. Marcial Sanson.
He started my career, by casting me in one of the original, if not the best teevee soap during the time......for those of you who are old enough, and a Filipino, you might remember the title of the program as "Gulong ng Palad"....and I was known as "Peping", the youngest member of the family.
The program lasted for six good years....filled with so many golden memories.....thanks to all the people who made it that way....my Nanay Caridad Sanchez, Ate Rosario, Kuya Edgar, Ate Marriane de la Riva, Kuya Ronald Corvue, Mommy Tita de Villa, Nanay Metring David, and Tatay Augusto Victa.....if I did forget to mention anybody else in the cast, please rest assured that the things I learned from you will always be treasured in my heart....
During Gulong ng Palad, I was also given the honor to have a program of my own, entitled "Peping Munting Anghel"...(little angel.....why they thought I was one, I could never figure out...*smile*).....under the same director Mr. Marcial Sanson.
Then, I did another soap with another director who in his own loving way helped me too.....Mr. Mario O' Hara, this time I worked with another child performer in the person of Ms. Janice de Belen...and If I'm not mistaken it lasted for a memorable amount of years too......I even did a lenten special which is shown every Holy Week with the same director..the title was "Marcelino Pan Y Vino"...a story of a boy who lived in a church and got the chance to speak with Jesus Christ, not knowing who He is and what He is all about....it was indeed a very memorable project....in work and essence.
From here on I have been doing teevee show guestings, both the live kind and the anthology types, I even have had the distinct honor of being asked to do pilot episodes for most of the popular series that are still going on untill now....some of those were "Lovingly Yours", "Coney Reyes on Camera" and "Maala-ala Mo Kaya" and the re-launch of "Calvento Files" to name a few.
Here is a picture from one of the tevee specials I did for a government project about the prisoners here in my country, this particular shot was taken during a scene with Ms. Cherrypie Picache who played as a sister to one of my "inmates" as well as my love interest and in this scene we were about to err......never mind, I don't think you would really wanna know *evil grin* (he,he,he).
Now for those movies that I failed to mention, it's not that I don't want to, it's just that I won't put up something I can't remember correctly..if you happen to know one that I have missed, by all means please kindly remind me (specially those I have worked with, since you can view this you have a computer right? :) ...refresh my memory, this noggin's been hit by lightning so many times I can't remember everything.*lol*) so, here goes:
Here's a photo from the said movie, I was pushing a cart with water containers in the rain when I heard Sheryl singing in the house across the street, and naturally the director told me to stop and give her a sweet smile, now that you think about it I think the first thing I would have really done in real life was to get myself an umbrella first before I stand in the middle of a street........oh well, the director is the director, so I just had to do it as he told me to.....*sigh*
This is Beth as Clara during the shooting for the movie "Damong Ligaw"....I guess you can call this a kind of a "stolen" shot, she was always shy whenever I took her picture =)*I just love this woman sooo much!!!!*
In the meantime, just keep coming back to these pages as I try to update them from time to time *smile*
