BIOGRAPHY OF PETER

Peter Sellers in "Dr.Strangelove" as Dr. Strangelove
He was born as Richard Henry Sellers on 8.09.1925 in Southsea(Hampshire,UK) and made his first stage appearance at the age of 2 weeks, during one of his parents' music hall shows.

While serving with the RAF,sergeant Sellers was stand-up comedian.

Soon, he went on to star in a new BBC radio show the Goon Show, which made its debut on 28.5.1951. The show was a funny collection of skits that was a precursor to Monty Python's Flying Circus. Sellers's characters on the show included: Major Denis Bloodnok, Bluebottle, Grytpype Thynne, William Cobblers and Henry Crun. Co-starring with Sellers were Spike Milligan(1918-), Harry Secombe(1921-) and Michael Bentine(1922-).The show ran until 28.1.1960.

From 1951 to 1980 Peter starred at about 64 films,and directed 2.

He was awarded the title Commander of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1966.

His first succes was The Mouse That Roared and I'm Alright, Jack in 1959; won his greatest following as the bumbler Inspector Clouseau in the five Pink Panther movies; In 64 motion pictures assumed many persona, including the sinisterly funny Claire Quilty in Lolita (1962), the mad scientist, the President and R.A.F. group captain in Dr. Strangelove (1964), and the Chance in Being There (1980).

He was not huge handsome,and not much teenage girls loved him,but his pretty brown eyes,nice face, characteristic voice,and comical wit made his world fame.



He died on 24.07.1980 in London.(heart attack).

He was buried with the additon of song "In the Mood",which he hated.When the wives and family crying he's friends laughing of this weird juncture.

Peter Sellers had four (not two, Sid!) wives:

1.Anne Howe (from 1951 to 1961)

2.Britt Ekland (from 1964 to 1968)

3.Miranda Quarry(from 1969 to 1971)

4.Lynne Frederick (from 1976 to 1980)

He liked jazz music,he had 50 cars and mechanical elephant.

Sellers was very kind and modest man.He once said about himself:

"As far as I'm aware, I have no personality of my own whatsoever. That is, I have no personality to offer the public. I have nothing to project."

Also,he was Vice-President of London Judo Society,and friend of many famous people,such as: Prince Charles,The Beatles,Princess Margaret,Mel Brooks and Woody Allen.

His death was the worse event on cinema history,because he was the greatest actor ever lived.
