Robert Gallo makes his return to the cinema. Gallo played the part of "Dr. Rizzoli" in the 2005 film In The Mix featuring R&B superstar Usher and B-movie veterans Robert Davi and Nick Mancuso. Hopefully this role will lead more opportunities for Robert and his former partner-in-crime Ray Martino to shine in the near future!

Robert Gallo and Ray Martino both have small parts on the TV crime drama L.A. Heat produced by Pepin/Merhi and based on their classic 1993 movie. The show ran in syndication and didn't last long. However, it did attract a small, loyal fan base and even featured boxer Sugar Ray Leonard in the cast.

Ray Martino's movie Portrait of a Pin-Up Queen is released to the straight-to-video market. It also sold by the title of Anna Nicole Smith: Exposed. The movie appeared to be good natured erotica more than anything else, as it came with the tag line, "Her fantasies revealed." But the film will be noted for later inspiring the hit E! cable show The Anna Nicole Show which runs from 2002-2004 and revived the ex-Playmate's career.

March 12, 1998: The New York Post reports that Ray Martino is directing a forthcoming Anna Nicole Smith project. The "documentary video" shoots in L.A. and is tentatively titled Portrait of a Pin-Up Queen: Anna Nicole Smith. Casting is being handled by Mark Sikes. January 29, 1998: Robert Gallo has returned to his theatrical roots. He is appearing in a one-man show entitled "King of the City: An Evening with Al Capone" for the next month at Bitter Truth and Sweet Lies Theatre in North Hollywood. Gallo originally co-wrote the story with actress/director Juanin Clay for its initial performance in 1992. Playing the notorious Chicago gangster who reflects on his life of crime, Gallo remarks, "I felt people should see the other side of the gangster. People should see the loving father. He was just the product of his times, the wide-open 1920s. Like Ruth and Valentino, he was larger than life."

Some critics have questioned if the portrayal is too sympathetic. The Los Angeles Times notes, "In the end, Gallo's Capone seems to want to be a hero--not an anti-hero, his more traditional role." However, all agree that the performance is exceptional and a must-see for L.A. theater goers. Click here for further information on this story.
