PATRICK STALINSKI
After two seasons touring with Michigan Opera Theatre's Opera-In-Residence program,
Patrick Stalinski, walked away from a promising music career to devote his energies to his family and his business, taking over as President in 1983. A member of two
prestigious Detroit-area vocal ensembles, one of which was scheduled for a European
tour the following spring, Pat opted instead for marriage and children.
Ten years later, the opportunity to sing Dubois' passionate "Seven Last Words of Christ" brought him back to his roots: Detroit's highly acclaimed Fort Street Chorale and he began once again to study the music he loved so much. Training under tenor Edward Kingins, Pat realized that his passion was not Opera, but sacred music, and a conversation with a friend convinced him to pursue his career once again. From 1996-1998, Patrick performed various works including J.S. Bach's Cantata 61 and Schubert's Mass in G to audiences in Detroit and Windsor, Ontario, as well as selected solo features at historic Fort Street Presbyterian Church in Detroit.
A trip to Boulder, Colorado earlier in 1996 cemented a relationship with composer Yves Vincent of San Diego, who agreed to begin writing new arrangements to accompany Pat's natural tenor vice. Pat believed it wasn't enough to simply sing the familiar songs in their traditional way, and the soul of Yves' arrangements made the perfect match to the passion of Pat's voice. In March, 1997, the pair completed their new release, "To Sing A Prayer", which includes such favorites as "Ave Maria", "Amazing Grace", and the moving spiritual, "Were You There".
"To Sing A Prayer" has just been re-mastered and is scheduled for re-release by May, 1999 on CD.
Pat continues to perform regularly while working to complete his next album, due for release in the fall of 1999. He resides in Tucson, Arizona with his wife, Sherryl, and their four children.
Pat will be performing at our JDSC Peace Service Sunday morning, July 25th at 9:00 a.m. Please join us in listening to a wonderful Christian tenor, as we celebrate life and peace on this earth.
