| Texas A&M Intramural Flag Football, Co-Rec Class B The 1999 season came to a close November 9 for the first year co-ed squad the Freebirds. Emerging as League C Class B champions, the 'Birds met only two of their other three opponents. Their first matchup against the River Rats was declared a forfiet due to lack of players. Then the team won out in the remaining games of the league against Catch This and Los Gordos. The 'Birds were to face team Reach in the first round of playoff action. However, team Reach failed to show up so the 'Birds won by default. In their first official playoff appearance, the 'Birds met KSA. KSA came out quick with an interception and two touchdowns. The Freebirds responded with a long pass from Kevin Pegues to Jenny Dean. This set up the touchdown and subsequent two-point conversion. But that would be the only time they would score. Haunted by interceptions, the Freebirds lost 30-8. Not at all disappointed with their season, the 'Birds enjoyed team spirit and making new friends. |
