Disclaimer: These great looking guys are not mine. Be thankful, because if they were, I wouldn't share. I'm greedy that way. Sorry can't help it. The boys belong to Pet Fly. I pulled them away for a little experiment. Don't worry I'll send them back in time for the show next week.
"Jim, you know this is something that we have *got* to get a handle on." Blair was looking at Jim, his blue eyes pleading.
"Don't look at me like that Blair! You know I hate tests. I'm beginning to feel like a lab rat with all of the experiments you put me through." Jim laid on the couch, leafing through the swim suit edition of Sports Illustrated.
"Jim, don't think of it as an experiment...think of it as..." 'Careful Sandburg don't loose him.' "Insurance." 'Yeah that's good.' Blair's eyes danced.
"Insurance."
"Yeah man. I mean what if you zone and I'm not there. We have got to have some sort of back up plan." Blair began to pace back and forth in front of the windows, blocking Jim's light.
"Hey...Chief. Do you mind?" Jim asked gesturing to his magazine.
"Oh. Sorry." Blair walked over to the coffee table and sat down on the edge, facing Jim. Jim frowned. Blair ignored him. "Look Jim, This is serious."
"Yeah, I know. But you are always there. What is there to worry about?"
"Jim? Are you listening to me??? I may not always be there for you man. I just want you to be ready when that time comes." This comment scared Jim. Was the kid going somewhere?
'Boy this kid is really trying to sell me on this.' Jim looked at his watch. "Oh hey, can we pick up this discussion later? I have a date to get ready for."
"Sure no problem." Blair's face showed his disappointment. "I guess I can go see a movie or something. I know you'll want the place to yourself."
"That would be great. Thanks Chief!" Jim said grinning as he ran upstairs. 'The kid is becoming a mind reader.'
It was mutual. When either man had a *date*, the other would leave to allow for some intimate privacy.
Jim heard the front door open and close. He went back downstairs to get a quick shower. ' This is going to be a perfect evening.'
Blair came back home. It was about 1:00 am. He hoped that the coast would be clear. He saw Jim's truck in the parking lot. 'I'll just sneak quietly into my room.' He thought as he finally worked the key into the lock. 'Jim really needs to fix the lock, it's getting harder to get the key in.' He finally got the door open, just in time to hear a woman scream. "Damn, Jim's an animal." He was about to leave again thinking a third movie might not be a bad idea, when the woman cried out for help. Blair looked up to Jim's room. He was torn, not knowing what to do. She cried out again. Blair's heart was racing. He ran up the stairs, taking them two at a time. He looked at the bed. The only thing that kept him from laughing was the look of horror on the young woman's face. Blair walked over to Jim and crawled onto the bed beside him. He tried to get into his guide mode, but was finding it hard to do considering the situation. "Okay, Jim I'm here. Just breath and focus."
'What is happening to me?!?!?' A voice screamed in Jim's mind. 'Man, what I must look like...naked and in this position.'
"Focus Jim.....Breath."
'I am focusing. I can't move!'
"Come on man! Snap out of it!" Blair pleaded.
'I can't. What's going on Blair? Help me!'
Blair looked at the woman. She was very beautiful. 'No wonder Jim zoned out. I wouldn't mind *zoning* myself.' He thought.
"Hi. My name is Blair....Blair Sandburg." He introduced himself. His voice dropping an octave. "Here, let me help you."
'What are you doing Chief?'
Blair pushed Jim onto the floor. The young woman and Blair looked at Jim laying there naked, then they looked at each other. Jim watched in terror as Blair shrugged and threw a blanket on top of him, covering him completely.
"Sorry Jim, you should have listened to me." He heard Blair say. Then he could hear his lady friend as she began to giggle. "Oh sweet mother of....Blair is seducing my date. I can't believe this. I'll kill him! Blair stop! Help me! Help me! Help me!'
Jim sat straight up in bed. Sweating, shaking, and his heart pounding. He looked around the room. He looked next to him, and then down at himself. He wasn't naked.
"It was just a dream." He said, suddenly relieved, yet terrfied. He realized how scary the dream really was. What if he did zone out during sex?
He came downstairs. Blair was sitting at the table munching on a piece of toast and scribbling notes, on a pad, from a thick text book. Jim cuffed him quite hard on the back of the head.
"Owe! Man, what was that for!" Blair yelled, while grabbing the back of his head.
"That's for not waking me up for breakfast." Jim lied. Knowing that he was getting Blair back for his actions in Jim's dream.
Blair stared at him, as Jim got a cup of coffee and sat down next to Blair at the table. "Whatcha doin' Chief?"
"Some research on your sentinel abilities." He said timidly, still looking at Jim. He was afraid to take his eyes off of the older man. Afraid that Jim might try to cuff him again. It still hurt. "I think I have a concussion." Blair whined, still rubbing the throbbing spot.
"You'll live." Jim said grinning. He snagged half of a piece of toast from Blair's plate, and took a bite.
"Help yourself." Blair chided, pushing a napkin in front of Jim to catch the crumbs.
"Thanks, don't mind if I do." He said around a mouthful of toast. "Um, are you researching zone outs?"
"No. Why?"
"Well, I thought that maybe we should do some tests or something."
Blair almost choked on his toast. "What? You *want* to do tests?" Blair looked at Jim suspiciously. Still not trusting him. "Who are you and what have you done with my sentinel." Blair asked trying to look serious.
"I'm serious Chief. What if I zone and you're not there. We need to have a plan. A way to handle it. Consider it *insurance*."
"Insurance? Sure, whatever man." Blair stood up and began to walk around. The bounce in his step worried Jim. Blair was trying to think of a way they could test Jim in a controlled situation. "This is *sooo kewl* man!" He exclaimed.
"Yeah, cool." Jim said with less enthusiasm. ' I think I'm going to regret this.'
