An hour later they are in the helicopter, heading down the coast. Derek squeezes Nick's knee. "Over there, see that clearing?"

"Yeah," He smiles and heads the chopper down, landing it quickly. He cuts the engine and it begins to die down. "Now what?"

"Follow me. Don't worry about the chopper, it will be safe. This is private property." Nick gathers the duffle bag.

"Why exactly did you want me to bring extra clothes?"

Derek takes the bag and steps down.

"You never know what might happen and our plans might change. Do you have your cell phone?" Nick nods and catches up to him as he jogs out from under the blades. "Good, come on."

They hike in silence for about ten minutes until Nick hears something and stops. "Shhh, wait." Derek recognizes the 'Seal' mode and grabs his shoulder and pushes him forward.

"Come on, it's nothing." They round a group of low bushes and find two horses standing near a tree. Nick looks back to Derek and raises an eyebrow.

"You've got to be kidding?" Derek walks up and begins petting the nose of the nearest horse, a dark bay, almost 17 hands high.

"I know you've ridden before."

"Yeah, like when I was nine or something. I haven't been around a horse in ages." Derek drops his pack near the tree and approaches Nick.

"It's just like riding a bicycle, you never forget." Nick shakes his head. "You won't even try?" Derek runs a hand down Nick's chest, resting it on his belt buckle. "I thought you were adventerous Nick."

"I am, I just prefer a different mode of transportation."

"Are you scared?" Nick pushes him a step back and walks up to the horse.

"NO! I'm not scared, just nervous." Derek encircles his waist with his arms.

"Relax, the horse will feel it if you're scared or nervous. They're very," He nibbles Nick's neck. "Sensitive about those kinds of things." He smiles as Nick relaxes into the embrace, allowing Derek better access to his neck. "That's better." Derek caresses his hips and works his way up, feeling the quiver of strong stomach muscles as they fight, not to buck against the sweet torture of Derek's teasing touch. "Won't you try, for me?" Nick sighs and turns in Derek's arms.

"For you, I'll try. But I'm not making any promises."

"Agreed. First thing we'll work on is your seat." Derek laughs at the expression on Nick's face. He pulls him close and clasps his ass with both hands. "Your seat in the saddle. How you sit. Your legs should hug the horse's barrel," His hands reach lower caressing the back of Nick's thighs.

"Derek, if you don't stop this, we'll never going to get any further than right here." Derek releases him.

"You're right," He clears his throat and adjusts his jeans, making room for his growing erection. "Come on then, up." Derek holds the horse's reins as Nick climbs into the saddle. "Okay," He leads the horse into a nearby clearing. "Concentrate on staying upright in the saddle. Stretch your legs out, toes in the stirups, press down. There, that's it." Derek leads the horse in a circle, then lets it out to the length of it's rein, coaxing it into a trot, then a canter.

Nick relaxes into the rhythm of the horse, having no problem staying on. After a few mintues of riding in a circle he sits back, bringing the horse to a halt. Derek smiles. "Good job. Ready?"

Nick nods and they pack the duffle on the back of Derek's saddle. A little bit later the bring the horses to a slow trot, then down to a walk. "This is fun."

"I thought you might like it." Derek stops his horses and unzips the pack, he hands a bottle of water to Nick and opens one for himself. "Our destination is right over this next ridge."

"I've given up asking where we're going." Derek smiles and replaces the bottles of water. "Just over this ridge, right?"

"Right."

"Race ya?" Derek sticks out his lip, thinking of the terrain ahead.

"Just for a bit, to that tree, it gets a little rough after that and the last thing I want..." Nick is off and Derek kicks his horse into a gallop. Nick of course, passes the tree first and pulls his horse into a skidding halt at the edge of a cliff.

"Whoa! Back, back." Nick urges the horse back away from the edge.

"I swear Nick, you're going to be the death of me." Nick sighs at the anger in Derek's voice. "You could have been killed, if for once you'd just listen to everything instead of going off half cocked in the middle of a sentence, maybe you'd..."

"Derek! I'm fine, stop." Derek caught his breath and growled.

"You are so reckless sometimes Nick, it scares me."

Nick dismounts and walks to the edge and looks over. "Wow, look at that water fall." He lets Derek's anger die in the last statement and heard the hint of real fear. Derek steps up beside him. "I'm sorry."

"Okay, but once in a..." Nick silences him with a kiss, then turns back to the valley before them.

"It's beautiful here." Derek accepts his defeat at having Nick listen to him and sighs. He wraps a protective arm around Nick's waist and pulls him close, until their sides touch.

"Yes, it is, that's why I wanted to bring you here."

"So, how do we get down?" Derek points to the trail that leads down. "Ready?" Derek nods, but sways a bit.

"Hey, are you okay?"

"Yes, I'm fine, still a bit weak from the flu I guess." Nick turns on his concern mode.

"We should have stayed at the house, let you rest. We can head back now."

"No, I wanted Valentine's day together to be special."

"There will be other Valentine's Derek, if you're not feeling well, we should head back."

Derek's fears come flooding back. Nick would marry someday and leave him. "I need you Nick, perhaps I haven't told you how much, but I need you."

"You got me boss man, you know that." Nick wipes away the tear that slides down Derek's cheek. "Hey, come on, this suppose to be a happy day, remember?"

"I love you Nick, more than you believe." Nick smiles and wraps his arms around Derek, resting his head on his chest, listening to his elevated heartbeat.

"I love you Derek and I know that you love me. Come on, let's go home." Derek breaks the embrace.

"No, we have plans, I'm fine." He spins Nick around and wraps his arms around him, pointing to a spot in the valley. "Down there is a hot spring, warm, bubbly, secluded and I want to bathe with you in it. Sink down and let the hot water warm our naked bodies." Nick shivers at the breath in his ear, he half turns and catches Derek's mouth in a kiss.

"Oh man, what you do to me." He allows himself to be turned and Derek's tongue parts his lips as it dives into his mouth, claiming him. Derek's lips move down to suckle his neck. "Take me, Derek, right here, right now." Derek's hands move down his body, bringing his hips flush against Derek's. "Please."

It was more a whisper than anything else and Derek's reservations was waining. He wanted to wait until they had reached their destination, it was safe there, secluded. His desire for Nick was taking over and he longed to give into the young man's requests. He took a deep breath and pushes Nick to arm's length. "Wait, wait. Let's get down into the valley, it's more private there." He laughs at the lip that Nick produces in a fake pout. "Then I'll give you everything and anything you want my love."

"Ok, let's hurry."

"Want to ride with me?" Nick raises an eyebrow.

"Do you think that's a good idea, you could get distracted."

"I'll risk it." He gathers the reins to Nick's horse and hooks it to his saddle. Then Nick climbs up behind him.

"This is different."

"You want me to ride in the back."

"No, you're better at this than I am, let's go."

It takes almost an hour to reach the bottom of the canyon. Once at the bottom the ride goes more quickly and they arrive at their destination. Nick slips off and ties up his own horse. He surveys the area. A cave in the side of mountain side, shelters a hot spring as it bubbles up from an underground source.

"I'm starving." Derek smacks his behind.

"Always thinking with your stomach?"

"First rule of survival." Derek smiles and walks toward the cave. Once Nick approaches he notices the renovations around the front. Man made steps, solar lights, hand rails.

"What is this place?" Derek steps inside the cave and waves for Nick. "I thought you said this was secluded."

Derek hands Nick a covered dish and points to a nearby stone table. "It is, very secluded. Think of it as a spa. We're alone as long as we want to be. But should we need anything, it will be here."

"How's that?" Nick popped the top and inhaled the aromas that escaped. Pasta salad with mixed vegetables. "What is this place?"

"It belongs to a friend of mine, I've rented it for the weekend." Derek joins him at the table, pouring them both a cup f coffee from the pot on the table.

"Weekend?"

"Yes, I thought maybe, if you didn't like it we could go back to the city. If you like it, we could stay here tonight. It's a little like camping out. But we have some of the modern conveinces, a bed for example. A nice, soft bed." Derek wiggles his eyebrows and Nick smiles.

"So, we're alone?"

"As long as we want to be." Derek digs into his lunch. "Do we stay?"

Nick nods and finishes off his meal. "Yeah, I'd like to check this out." Derek smiles and takes his hand.

"I thought you might like it."
