STORY: Thinking he is needed by his son, Andrew Plummer leaves the old folks home. His well meaning behavior irritates his son's (Joe) wife Gertrude and causes the servants to resign. Then Andrew meets an orphan boy named Tommy, who takes all the money he earns shinning shoes home to his abusive uncle, Frank Crowley. After Tommy finds out he cannot keep his dog Snooper at the apartment house, Andrew takes the mutt home annoying Gertrude even more. Andrew meets Doc and other men who live at the Hays Home for Aged Gentlemen. The men assure Andrew that a one time fee of $500 affords them a great place to live. Andrew shows Tommy his State Championship Wrestling belt and pulls money from his trunk to buy Tommy some new clothes. Frank and Spud decide to hock Tommy’s new clothes and steal Andrew’s money. Tommy accidentally breaks the wrestling belt and takes it to be repaired. After learning that he really is not needed at his son’s home, Andrew tells Joe and Trudie (Gertrude) that he is moving into the Hays Home, but discovers his $1000 savings gone. When he sees the belt missing he assumes that Tommy took it. Tommy swears that he is innocent, then hears Frank and Spud planning to skip town and tells Andrew. Andrew successfully locks Spud in a closet and wrestles Frank to the floor. Doc enters with a gun and they get the money back and apprehend Frank. Andrew is accepted into the Hays Home, along with his "gentleman" friend Tommy and his mutt Snooper.
