STORY: Eve Sutton helps her boyfriend rob the store where they work. The next day, her sister Joan realizes that the watch, Carl gave Eve, is similar to one of the missing pieces. She then tells her boss, also Carl's mother. The employees worry when they hear that the old owner's son is selling the store, Charles Phelps, whom Joan accidentally meets in the cane department, shortly after the store closes. A few minutes later they find the body of Mrs. Briggs in the elevator. During the investigation, Mrs. Wilson, a customer, says that she saw someone running out of the store. As Carl is being questioned about his mother's death, he is shot from above, just as he is about to reveal "the man's" name. Charley reveals that his father had "whispering windows" throughout the store, from which he could see and hear everything. Eve reveals to Joan, all the details of the robberies, but refuses to reveal the murderer for fear of her life. Eve and Mr. Grover, another employee, disappear, then the watch and a tack from the furniture department come in the pneumatic tubes and Joan realizes they are a message from Eve. She then tells Charley. The lights go out and Joan and Grover's voices are heard sceaming for help over the intercom. Everyone goes to the sixth floor, where Albert (Tommy) finds Eve in a box on the seventh floor. More police arrive and restore the lights. Joan and Charley sneak away as Hardy grabs the Captain's gun. They find Eve alive and she tells them that Grover is the killer and head of a gang that includes Hardy and some of the men dressed as police on the sixth floor. Joan starts a fire in an office to turn on the sprinklers and summond the Fire Department. Grover and Watson, tie up some of the people and take Charley hostage. Joan releases the tied up cleaning ladies. The Police and Firemen arrive nad the cleaning ladies capture the gang using their mops. Charley grabs Grover and turns him over to the police and announces that he will not sell the store. He then proposes to Joan.
