STORY: John Preston discovers that forty head of his cattle are missing. He is killed in ambush while returning home, and the local ranchers seek revenge against the Benson family, whom they believe are responsible. As the vigilantes, including Flash Burdue, discuss their plans, Sally (daughter of Sam Griswold), who is in love with Muley Kid Benson, overhears them and rushes to the Benson Ranch to warn the family. Before they arrive Muley manages to get his family across the border to Mexico. Muley tells the mob that the man who accused his family of the murder is a liar, and when Flash pulls a gun, Muley shoots his earlobe off, calling it a "Muley Brand." Telling Sally he will return for her, Muley leaves town for five years. Reading a newspaper ad begging him to return, Muley heads for the Griswold Ranch ,assuming Sally placed the advertisement. Sally meets him on the trail, telling him that the new owner of the Preston Ranch has blocked all access to the neighboring water holes and has destroyed most of their stock. Later while shearching for information Muley sees Sally talking to Flash, whom he does not recognize because of Flash’s disguise. Flash has lured Sally away from her home, hoping her father will follow after her so he can kill him and force Sally to marry him. Slats, Flash’s foreman, captures Muley and Sam and holds them as prisoners. Seeing them, Flash removes his disguise and admits to Preston’s murder and promises to take revenge for Muley shooting off his earlobe. His attempt fails and Muley and Flash end up in a fight. The sheriff arrives and Muley tells him the range war is over, as Sally and he embrace. He tells them that he returned because of Sally’s advertisement, which he now knows was placed by Flash to lure him into a trap. Sally tells him she did not place the ad, but would be happy if he would stay with her.
