STORY: Mr. Hackett, the general manager of the Cattleman's Protective Association, has stolen cattle from over a dozen ranches and used the associations funds to pay the ranchers for their losses. Meanwhile, the Three Mesquiteers, Stony, Tucson and Lullaby, trustees of the estate which runs the association, become suspicious because no cattle are recovered by Hackett's men. The association has also voted to close the city orphanage, endowed by the same trust, and run by Doris Moore. Doris has tree days to find enough money to keep the orphanage open or save the children from adoption by mean-spirited townfolks who want them as house labor. The Mesquiteers call off all adoptions and search for proof of Hackett's crimes. By trailing the herd of the latest victim, the Mesquiteers chase off the rustlers and return the herd. They observe that Hackett's posse seems unwilling to shoot at the rustlers and confront Hackett in town and remove him and his deputies from office. They learn that the Carson ranch is next and hurry there, where Hackett's men shoot at them until they are forced to withdraw. A young orphan discovers them and to keep him quiet, Hackett tries to adopt him, but Lullaby saves him, and the boy identifies Captain Gardner as the head of the gang. The final showdown occurs during the orphanage fundraiser, where Hackett plans to shoot the Mesquiteers while they are on stage. Stony forces a confession by one of the gang members and Hackett shoots him instead. The outlaws escape to the Hackett ranch. There, Lullaby pulls a gun and collects the associations funds. After the outlaws are caught, Stony secures the Orphanage's future and promises to visit Doris in the moonlight. Lullaby adopts Bobby and the (four) Mesquiteers ride off.
