My bone to pick with the Academy this time is that Ron Howard didn't get the Oscar for Apollo 13, my god, he didn't even get nomiated! Now, Braveheart was a wonderful film, and I congradulate Mel Gibson on doing a fantastic job on it, BUT. Number one is that it wasn't truly TRUE to the story, but if you didn't look into the real story you wouldn't know it. And the factual errors weren't major.

Ron Howard did a incredible job on Apollo 13, and he stayed true to the story. It was a very dramatic story, and he made it a very dramatic film. The cast was fantastic, and the music, my god, I get chills just listening to it! So when the Oscar nominations came out and Mr. Howard had been left off the list for best director, I was rather upset. I was also annoyed about Apollo 13 not getting the best movie oscar, but by far I was most upset when the Academy overlooked Howard's work. Quite frankly, I haven't been impressed with the Academy's choices for the past four years. Oh well....
