Life At A Glance

1988
Officially became an actor with HK-TVB, after being discovered at the finals of an annual singing contest organised by TVB. Did an advertisement for "Sunshine Lemon Tea".

1989
Acted in his first TV serial, Lei She Qing Chun.

1990
Became the compere of a children’s programme, Shuttle 430.

1991
Officially joined BMG as a recording artiste.

1992
Released Cantonese debut album, Don’t Cry Anymore. Received Jade Solid Gold's Best Newcomer award.

1993
Received Hongkong Radio Station's Best Potential Newcomer Award and Jade Solid Gold's Good-looking Artiste Award. Released 2^nd album titled Sahara.

1994
Released his 3^rd album On Stage (which reached the top spot on the Hong Kong IFPI chart) and 4^th album Got to be Real, which again topped the Hong Kong IFPI chart and received platinum sales. His popularity was not affected at all despite his openness about long-time actress girlfriend, Maggie Siu. Also released his 5^th album The Best Show in the same year which was on the #2 spot the day it was released. Acted with Chan Chung Ling in popular TVB series, Knot To Treasure. Awarded as one of the Top Ten Idols by Hongkong Commerial Radio.

1995
Held his first mini-concert called My Best Show in Hongkong's Cultural Centre. Travelled to Taiwan, Malaysia and Singapore for a promotional tour. Released his first EP titled Life which achieved an impressive sales figure of over 100,000 copies (double platinum sales), as well as his 6^th album Earth. Had his first coffee-table book, Natural.

1996
Received the Top Ten Singer Award from Hongkong Radio and a Male Singer Award from Hongkong's New City radio station. Released 7^th album If It Were To Rain (platinum CD sales), 2^nd EP Discover - Life II and 1^st Mandarin EP Frantic Love. With the popularity of Ekin’s character as Chan Ho Lam in the comic-based Young and Dangerous movie series, as well the success of Feel 100% and Feel 100% Once More (which also starred Sammi Cheng and Gigi Leung), Ekin's fast becoming one of the top idols in the region.

1997
Received a nomination for Best Actor at the Golden Horse Awards for his performance in Young and Dangerous. He released a series of 7 shape CDs, Ekin Edge Collection. Released albums The Best Show II, Ekin 13 and a 3^rd EP entitled Eternity. His first Mandarin album, Still Love You is also released this year. Did advertisements for a jewellery shop, a shampoo and a credit card company, making him the only artiste with 3 commerials on TV at the same time. Ekin was nicknamed by the Hong Kong media as the 5^th Heavenly King.

1998
Held his first solo concert, 22098 Ekin in Concert in February. He starred opposite Aaron Kwok in the much-hyped and well-received movie, The Storm Riders which is another comic-based movie. Released his 9^th Cantonese album, Senses and a the 10^th, My Paper Ring which comes with an hour-long movie. The Mandarin version of My Paper Ring was released soonafter. He will also be holding his first concert in Singapore on the 5^th of December.
