Octopussy is more or less a continuation of where James Bond left off. Not plot-wise, but character-wise. Roger Moore is reaching his aging years by this film but he is able to play James Bond pretty well. Many say that he should have given up after For Your Eyes Only but I feel that he did a good job in Octopussy and should have given it up after this film.

One thing that is difficult about this film is the ability to figure out the plot. First we have the Faberge Egg recovered by the late 009 and the proceeding auction of it at Southeby's and all the sudden we are hit with a big military operation to overtake Western Europe. It gets confusing here at times where all this fits in and how Kamal Khan, Octopussy, and the knife brothers are connected. Despite the plot figuration, the action scenes and dialogue is pleasant to watch. Bond's attraction to Octopussy and his classic smoothness are ever so evident in this movie. Q has a larger than usual role in this film accompanying Bond to India where he works with Vijay to help Bond accomlish his mission. Not to mention supply bond with some nice gadgets that help him. One of the better gadgets is the alligator vehicle which 007 uses to get over to octopussy's island undetected.

Octopussy has an interesting role as well playing a villain/Ally to Bond it seems. She is involved with the jewlery smuggling operation but has no idea about the military operation that is involved with it. You either love her or hate her. Bond chooses the former and succeeds. Another nice girl in this film is Magda, the blonde haired beauty who is working with octopussy and Khan.

Octopussy has its great moments like the train fight, the pre-title sequence, and the eye-popping finale with Khan's airplane. I still appreciate the realism that the series has taken by now and think that Octopussy will remain one of the best for years.
