Episode #107 - Escape from New York

original air date: 3/10/98

In the first scene, Joey complains to Dawson about how little sleep she is getting due to the crying of her baby brother, Alexander. She then falls asleep on his bed. Jen's ex-boyfriend, Billy, drives to Capeside from New York, and on his way to the high school he almost runs over Pacey's toes. When he shows up at the school, Billy takes Jen for a walk, but not before both Joey and Dawson see her leaving with him. Cliff, the school football star, then invites Dawson and Jen to a party later at his house.
Meanwhile, Dawson's parents are trying to patch things up by doing some deep-sea fishing. Mr. Leery seems unsure as to whether they will ever be able to work things out.
Billy ends up crashing at Dawson's house, which Dawson hates. Jen gets very confused about her feelings, unsure of whether or not she still cares for Billy. This upsets Dawson greatly, as does the news that she won't be coming to Cliff's party. Meanwhile, Pacey teases Joey about being in love with Dawson, saying that she must be loving it that Jen's ex is in town.
Later, Pacey drags Joey to the party. Just when she and Dawson are about to leave to go rent a movie, Jen shows up. She had told Billy to leave, and it seems like everything has been worked out, but then Billy shows up at the party. Jen eventually gets fed up with the both of them. Meanwhile, upset about everything, Joey starts drinking and some guy tries to take her away. Pacey ends up punching the guy, then Dawson shows up and they both take Joey home.
Once at Joey's house, Pacey tries to quiet the baby by reciting the plot of The English Patient. Dawson puts Joey on the couch and tells her that he'll always be there for her whenever she needs him. Then Joey wakes up and kisses him. While Dawson and Pacey are rowing home, Dawson tells Pacey what happened. Pacey tells Dawson's that it's because Joey is in love with him, but Dawson doesn't seem to believe it.
When Dawson gets home, Billy is on his way out and Jen is standing by the dock. Dawson goes to Jen, who is very upset and tells him that she needs to break up with him, because she needs some time alone. Dawson is visably hurt by this, and tells her that maybe he'll find someone else, someone more capable of having a healthy, stable relationship.
