Joey Potter played by Katie Holmes back to the top
Joey's mother died of cancer, and her father is in prison. She lives with her sister, Bessie, Bessie's boyfriend, Bodie, and their baby, Alexander. They own a small resterant which Joey often waitresses at. Dawson has been Joey's good friend since they were very young, and she spends a lot of time at his house. She would like him to be more than a friend, but is not sure if he feels the same way.

Dawson is a huge Spielberg fan and hopes have a career in filmmaking someday. He attempted make his own film to enter in a film festival. A perfectionist, he is often overdramatic about his life and relationships, much to Joey's dismay. He is very interested in Jen, the new girl in town, who was his girlfriend for a few episodes.
Jennifer Lindley played by Michelle Williams back to the top
Jen just moved to Capeside from New York. She lives with her grandmother, next door to Dawson. Her grandmother is very conservative and overprotective of Jen. Jen left New York because her parents were worried about how fast she was moving. She went out with Dawson for a brief period of time, until her old boyfriend showed up and she dumped both of them, telling them that she needed some space.

Pacey, a good friend of Dawson's, has trouble fitting in. He was involved with Tamara, one of his teachers, until she moved away.
