(About the steerage party) - Kate Winslet - "I grew up with that music! I really loved that scene because it was such a wonderful change after the first-class formality."
(About the steerage party) - Leonardo DiCaprio - "You have to accept that it was a different time. Dancing was more than dancing. It was part of the communication between men and women, which was very different in 1912, especially between a first-class lady and someone like my character. But I think Jack ignores all that and it's why Rose is interested in him. He doesn't hesitate."
(About the steerage party) - Kate Winslet - "We'd never rehearsed it together until that day. Leo had been practicing hard. I was really proud of him for getting the footwork down."
(About Cal) - Billy Zane - "Every decision Cal makes is with intent to mine the approval of his social set. He couls benefit from a loving relationship based on communication and respect but he's been brought up his whole life to belive such things aren't important. He's the product of bad programming and we witness it short circuiting pretty violently. His heart is breaking just as he's realizing he has one."
(About Cal) - James Cameron - "Cal is obsessed with proper apperances. He never allows himself to lose control for very long, but when he does it's explosive."
(About the people in the water) - Leonardo DiCaprio - "In all reality I think they believed that the people in the lifeboats would row back and recue them."
(About "unsinkable") - Frances Fisher - "It was a disaster that didn't need to happen. It was about thinking with the ego instead of with the heart. And above all it was about arrogance. God is greater than all of us, and if you are so arrogant to say something is unsinkable, you will get slapped in the face."
- Kate Winslet - "One thing that is very important to me in life is, through having a relationship with somebody and loving that person and being allowed to feel the whole emotion of love despite all of the risks, you can find out who you are. And when Rose meets Jack she cuts through all of the class and money nonsense and connects with something real and alive and passionate in his soul. And when I read the script I was in floods of tears, because it takes you to the point where you would do anything - absolutely anything - to stop that ship from sinking.
(About acting) - Gloria Stuart - "I don't think I'll act after this. After all the years and all my films, this one is the frosting on the cake."
(Ha ha) - Jonathon Hyde - "The caviar was very high quality. I made an acting decision on the spot that Ismay was a big eater."
(about the dinner party) - Leonardo DiCaprio - "That's Jack's scene. It's not really about when he talks about how he grew up or where he's been as it's about the fact that Jack is able to sit in front of all these people who are completely detatched from everything he represents and, without fear, just lay it all out. 'This is what I am. Accept me for that or not.'"
(about the dinner party) - Kate Winslet - "The dinner party went on forever and a day. It was very glamerous with the three-thousand-course meal, Russell's glorious lighting and the hair and makeup people running in and out between takes making everyone look fantastic, but it was all upper class and stiff as well. I was much more comfortable shooting the steerage party."
(about Leonardo DiCaprio) - Kate Winslet - "I was afraid Leo wasn't going to like me. I thought he was going to have this image of me as this starchy Brit who recites Shakesepeare left and right and absolutely insists on drinking tea in the afternoon. When I first met him I realized I was going to have to let him know that I had my funky side as well. We're very close now. He's got lots of my secrets, and I've got heaps of his."
(About Jack) - Kate Winslet - "Jack's the first person, the first man certainly who has ever come into Rose life and said, 'How do you feel?' and shows interest in her desires and hher dreams. They share so many of the same passions for life, which he's already attained, and to which she's inspiring."
