"Lucretia, one of the five applique hangings showing famous women of hte Ancient World. She was the wife of a Roman Nobleman who, after being raped by Tarquinius Superbus, killed herself rather than bring shame on her family. She is shown between the personifications of her virtues - Chastity on the left and Liberality to the right. (277 x 340 cm)" (page 68)
