Sigourney Weaver

Why Sigourney?

Well, simply put, this woman has turned in one of the finest kick ass roles in recent history. Her portrayal of our favorite heroine Ellen Ripley is a brilliant one. Ripley evolves as a character, becoming more hardned and cynical, but also more assertive and self-assured. She is a woman who has seen more than any other human, and who has also lost more.

Sigourney also has one of my favorite lines ever, but you'll have to see Aliens yourself to figure out what it is (I wouldn't want to ruin it for you) She was awarded an Oscar nomination for her role in the second Alien movie (directed by everyone's favorite megomaniac James Cameron). But her best performance, in my humble opinion, was in Alien Resurrection. Her latest portrayal of Ripley was both inspringly badass and tragic. It is a portrait of a woman struggling with doubts about her own humanity. It was also one of the most erotically charged movies in the series (still no sex for Ripley though). Her interactions with Call (everyone's favorite pixie Winona Ryder) were extremely well done, as the two strive to define what makes them human.
