Hunky Leonardo diCaprio has just signed on to star in the thriller American Psycho. He’ll play killer Patrick Bateman in the remake of the best- selling novel. The goss is he’s getting us$21 million for the role. Shooting starts in New York in Spring.

Now that Titanic has grossed mega bucks worldwide, director James Cameron is starting to think about a new preject. His name has been linked to a proposed Spider Man flick, and rumour has it he wants Leo to star! At this rate fans may never get to see Leo’s face again- he wears a mask in The Man in the Iron Mask and everyone knows spidey wears a mask too. ***** Speaking of Leo, he’s just finished filming a TV commerical. “Why would Leo be doing commericals? Has his Titanic fee dried up already?” I hear you ask. Well, this wasn’t just any ol’ ad- it’s a Japanese ad for visa card, and Leo picked up a cool US$4 million for a day’s work. Not bad. ***** Leo says filming Titanic made a man out of him, and he’s finally proved it by moving out of home. He’s found a US$3 million bachelor pad with six bedrooms.......plenty of rooms for his pals! ***** One more tidbit about Leo.....he was just about to sign on to star in the remake of Cormac MaCarthy’s All The Pretty Horses (directed by Sling Blade star Billy Bob Thornton) when he was pipped at the post by Matt Damon! Seems that Matt only took 25 minutes to sign on for the role, for which he’ll receive more than US$5 million, his biggest pay cheque yet. Hmmm.......could these two become Hollywood’s hottest rivals?

Kate Winslet was a bit anxious about all the kissing scenes she had with Leo in Titanic. Before one, Kate asked Leo if he had cleaned his teeth. When he replied, “Yeah, but I just had a meat sandwich,” Kate, a strict vegetarian, was horrified. ***** Why is poor ol’ Leo hot under the collar at the moment? Well, here’s the deal: American Playgirl magazine got their mits on some nude pictures of Leo. Isn’t the mag a bit worried about another trip to court...having just got over that Brad Pitt lawsuit?!

Naomi Campbell’s mum Valerie has confirmed her daughter isn’t romantically involved with Leonardo diCaprio. “She told me: ‘Mum, I’m not seeing this guy, we’re just friends,’” said Valerie. “She’s concerned how her boyfriend will feel.” But she quickly added: “She hasn’t said publicly who her new boyfriend is.”

Leonardo diCaprio fever as the young star attended the European premiere of The Man in the Iron Mask. Leo sampled the local grog with Frenchman descended from D’Artagnan, the musketeer played by Gabriel Byrne in the movie. Leo also took his mum, stepfather and grandmother to the Picasso exhibition at the Louvre Museum- a genteel excursion that’s a far cry from a report in US star magazine, which claims Leo was at a party recently where there were “piles of cocaine on a coffee table.”
