Terrorists attack New York and Washington September 11, 2001

Today is one is the most shocking....no. Mind numbing days of my life. Today as I turned the television on, my visionw as filled with flames, smoke and carnage. As I turned the TV hijacked planes had crashed into both of the World Trade Center buildings and into the Pentagon. Against a bright blue sky, dark inky flames and smoke billowed out like a flag of mourning over the crippled buildings. I watched in horror as the news replayed footage of the disintergration of the WTC one after the other. In morbid fascination and curiosity I began to switch the channels trying to find footage of the second plane crashing into the South Tower. As I watched this footage and that of the people streaming away, covered in debris, and blood, scared and numb I found tears standing in my eyes.

My thoughts on the attacks

So says the news: They have attacked two of the things that makes America one of the strongest forces in the world.
I say: Our strong economic holding as one of the largest and strongest industrialized countries. They struck at our Pentagon. The representation of our defenses. We with one of the largest and strongest military forces in the world could not fend off this attack. But what was only mentioned in regards to the inconvience it posed in possible rescheduling, was the fact that it was a voting day. Our country has been known because of the fact that the people get a say in how the country is run. The fact that we can make crude jokes about the President and the family and still have our heads. They attacked on a voting day. There was nothing exciting in the world of the trade, no momentous occasion. There is no great military victory, I don't think so anyway, on today. Was today just a random date or was it chosen to say something about the democratic process also? Was this trying to save bin Laden's cohort? I don't think so. People like them are martyrs. Political martyrs who want to go to prison to show what they will endure for their cause.

So Says the News: This was a planned attack. It took planning and money
I say:I think that a mistake was made at the time of the Oaklahoma bombing. It was labelled as the largest terrorist attack ever on US soil. In the end it turned out to be done by one of our own country goobers, excuse the saying. Instead it was done by one of our own. We can't get our mind set in stone about bin Laden being the guilty party. Though I don't doubt it. I think that hearing that this largest attack on US soil wasn't an international powerhouse, AKA terrorist/religious/we-are-right-you-are-wrong groups infuriated the various factions. Here was this gigantous insult done on our home soil and it was supposed to send a message about how people dislike the US. But then it was just done by Timothy Mc Veigh. No religious affiliations, no terroristic demands. Just nuttier than a fruit basket and a few cards short of a full deck. These terrorists then plotted, gathering people, resources and money. Not to mention, apparently training. Then they jsut waited for the circumstances to be just right. The situation? My guess is our support for Israel. It created friction amongst our Middle Eastern allies and probably the hope that they would get sympathy from our Allies, if the attack could possibly be viewed as something that they secretly agreed upon.

What should we do?

Bomb the hell out of the bastards!!

That is what I have heard the general consensus being. Bomb them. Kill them all. I am ALL for punishing the guilty party every single one of them. But who says war is right? If we sink to their level won't we be just the same as them? Why would us sending bombs over to Afghanistan and destroying the whole miserable nation be better than what was done to us. They did it to us. Excuse me for saying that that response sounds like a 4 year-old. Because we are in the right, we need to strike back to show that you can't do this to us. I'm sure the enemy had that thought too. Someone said Justice not Revenge. That is what we need to remember. If we go killing crazy then we aren't any better than them. We need to show our iron fist and eliminate the opposition without going berserk. I an wary for the people in the United states right now of Arabiac and Caldean descent and immigrants. The common man won't see this "cowardly enemy' to quote the President, but they will see the Arabiac man at the gas station, or the Caldean at the grocery store. Just because you have a shaved head doesn't automatically make you a skin head. I understand the fine line that our govenment must draw in the days to come and I hope that the line that is drawn leaves us standing trimphantly over our foes while we still stand up to what makes America, America. The land of the free and the home of the Brave. Our home of justice and equality. A land where all men are created equal. A place where a man had a dream.
