Brandon was born in Oakland, California at East Oakland Hospital to Linda Emery Cadwell-Lee and Bruce Jun Fan Lee. Brandon has one sister: Shannon Lee-Keasler.
Brandon's Past
Brandon dropped out of school. Went to acting school in Boston,
and went to college at Emery University, Boston. He often got in
to many fights with kids, because "He was Bruce Lee's son, so he
must be tough".
At the age of ten his mom (Linda Lee Cadwell) took him to Dan Inosantos school of Martial Arts in Marina Del Ray, California. He never took the Martial arts seriously, really, until the age of eighteen. After his death, martial arts experts put Brandon at a 7 out of 10 on skills scale. One of the Fourteen only in the world certified to teach TAI Boxing, Brandon was a force.
Brandon's first car was an ACURA NSX-T. It costed him $80,000. Brandon was big on Motorcycles.
One time a burgler broke into his home and Brandon, suprisingly, was there. As a result, the burgler ended up being taken to the hospital with broken bones.
For the Casting of 'The Crow' Edward R Pressman wanted Christian Slater, big time, for the part of Eric Draven. Unfortunately for Edward, Slater's asking price was millions too high. So guess how much Brandon got, $300,000 and a three picture deal.
Till this day Eliza Hutton has not spoke too the Lee/Cadwell family. Shannon (Brandon's sister) says of the fact, "It must be that our family is a painful reminder of Brandon".
The following is info formation of Brandon's life, childhood, and family.
When Brandon was born, he had a head of jet black hair, which fell out and later grew in platnium blonde. Bruce Lee used to say that his son was the only blonde haired gray-eyed Chinamen in the world! Brandon never slept thru the night for the first 18 months of his life, due to his family fequent moves. Brandon, at the begining of his life, did nothing but holler all the time. He never had a special blanket, or even a pacifier. This was the start of his life.
Often Brandon would go to his friend Luke's house to play, but Luke rarely went to the Lee house. When his mother was asked why, she said that Luke was afraid of all the yelling and hitting that went out in the Lee household. To Brandon, all seemed normal, but to his friends it was indeed strange!
Brandon and Bruce were very, very close. They did many things together. They read books, traveled, practiced Kung Fu, and played together. Brandon was eight, almost nine, years old when his father died, and it was incomprehensible that his hero would never be coming home again.
Brandon was approaching his ninth birthday when his father died of a brain edema on July 20th, 1973. Bruce's death has always been shrouded by mystery, although the cause of death was given as a brain edema, which is very simply defined as swelling of the brain. Bruce's death was officially ruled "Death by Misadventure". But, over the years there have been many who claim Bruce was murdered by those who did not appreciate his "mixing" of the various forms of martial arts to form his own style Jeet Kune Do. And the fact that Bruce was teaching the ancient martial arts secrets to "non-Asian" students, was also claimed as another reason. Linda Lee moved with Brandon and his sister Shannon to Los Angeles shortly after Bruce died where Brandon spent most of his childhood and teenage years.
Brandon appeared with his father, Bruce, in several demonstrations; some of which were televised.
Brandon studied drama in high school. He went on to take acting classes in New York at the Actors Studio; founded by the legendary Lee Strasberg and his wife Paula. He then studied acting at Emerson College in Boston, MA. Later he joining Eric Morris' American New Theater Company in NYC and even relocated with the company to Los Angeles. He appeared in Los Angeles, in John Lee Hancock's Full Fed Beast.
Brandon studied Jeet Kune Do with two of Bruce's former students who run the Inosanto Academy of Martial Arts; Ted Wong and Dan Inosanto. The Inosanto Academy is located in Marina Del Rey, California.
To quote Brandon: "I've done my work and I'm happy with it... I respect my father very much, but I'm a very different person than he was."
