Dear Michael,
I never wanted to do this, but I have to say goodbye. By the time you get this, I'll be on a plane out of the country. I received a wonderful opportunity to write a series of articles on the Far East. After much soul searching, I realized I couldn't turn it down. Michael I love you, but I'm afraid if that I stayed in Sunset Beach I'd be spending the rest of my life regretting the missed chances. I couldn't stand to see our love turn into regrets and recriminations. So I thought I would leave now, while our love was strong and our memories are something to be cherished. Please get on with your life. You deserve someone who will love you with all her heart and her life will be making you happy. I'm sorry, I can't be that woman.
