Brief Character History: As a reporter, Vanessa is naturally investigative. A story she did on a criminal named Jo-Jo led to her sheltering a little girl. With Michael’s help, she and the girl escaped being harmed. Her latest investigations surround her suspicions regarding Virginia Harrison who has her sights set on Michael. Vanessa's mother has a disease called Martin's syndrome. Vanessa feared that she was coming down with the symptoms of the disease. She was also fearful that Michael will leave her if she has the disease. Unknown to Vanessa, Virginia had a voodoo doctor make Vanessa think and look like she had the disease. Vanessa went into hiding with the help of Dr. Tyus Robinson, who is also helping her find a cure for the disease. She became reunited with Michael during an earthquake and she found out that Michael injected himself with Martin's Syndrome to test the cure. She was upset at first, but she realized how much Michael loved her for risking his life for her. Michael asked Vanessa to marry him and she said yes.
