N E W S I E S

In 1899, the streets of New York City echoed with the voices of newsies. Peddlin' the newspapers of Joseph Pulitzer, William Randolph Hearst, and other giants of the newspaper world. On every corner you saw 'em carryin' the banner, bringin' you the news for a penny a pape. Poor orphans and runaways, the newsies were a ragged army, without a leader. Until one day, all that changed....

And so begins the wonderful tale of Newsies, the Walt Disney musical
that, despite its poor ratings in the theaters, has commanded a HUGE following
through video and the Internet.

Why is Newsies so popular?

Perhaps its the handsome, talented actors, maybe the marvelous dancing and singing,
or maybe because it's based on a true story. One of the biggest draws, though, is that it
effectively portrays the battle and victory of the little, good guys against the big, bad guys.

It gives one hope that our struggles against life's problems, too, can be won.
