All over the Pride Lands, there are many herds of different animals; roaming the grassy fields, drinking from the water holes, and occasionally singing.
There are many different species, but they can generally be divided into two different types: Realistic and Stylized.
The realistic looking animals get most of the screen time, but when we see the world through Simba's eyes, they take on quite a different look.
These animals, unlike their real-looking counterparts, are brightly colored, and sport jaunty chorus voices. The most prominent example of these animals is in the "I Just Can't Wait to be King" sequence.
Their colorful coats are reminicent of African textiles, with their vibrant colors and distinctive shapes. These animals appear to be there just to have fun with their future King. This is how Simba sees the world in the beginning - fun, exciting, and revolving around him.
