Benicio was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico, on February 19, 1967. Santurce is one of the nicest suburbs of San Juan.
It is a beautiful city with a tropical climate and many striking buildings,
such as the Centro de Bellas Artes, named after former governor, Luis A. Ferre (1968-72).

Although he was born a Puerto Rican citizen,
when he was 13, his parents moved to Mercersburg, a town in Pennsylvania.
He grew up in farm country, where there were sheep. . .
And horses. . .
And cattle. . .
And more sheep!
He attended Mercersburg Academy during his high school years. It is a coeducational institution over 100 years old.
