Benicio is Fred Fenster, the frenetic, kinetic partner of McManus. With an unintelligibly accented speech pattern and a natty style of dress, the character of Fenster stays with everyone who has seen The Usual Suspects.

Benicio, settling a bet that he lost, plucked his eyebrows for the role. Of his own accord, he shaved his hairline. The two cosmetic changes served to make him resemble none of the characters he had played before and cause many people to stand up and ask, "Who was that manic psycho?!"
