I recently took a step back at this page and thought, "I really don't say a lot about
myself here." I've found through reading other people's profiles on the 'net that you
really don't learn a lot about a person by reading a few paragraphs they prepared. So
I'm not going to subject you to that. Following this paragraph are some of my thoughts
that I've had over the years. This will give you more of a feel for what I'm like than
some paragraph (as well as letting me say some stuff that I couldn't fit in anywhere else
on the page).
My thoughts on:
Why my favorite Power Rangers series always changes:
Blame the increase in quality over the later seasons. PRLG and PRiS have raised the bar for
quality, to the point where I can truthfully say I find them more interesting than much of
what's on TV today. This did not used to be the case; I used to find other shows better, and
simply enjoyed PR. The best non-PRLG non-PRiS season is PRZ, though.
Why I like Carranger:
Carranger accomplishes something that no other show does: incorporate humor into a show about
spandex-clad people fighting space aliens. I like serious, Kamen Rider Black-style storylines
as much as the next guy, but I also like to take a break from reality once in a while.
Old Vs. New in Japanese children's entertainment:
The old stuff is invariably better. The size of the gap between old and new in tokusatsu versus
that in anime is striking, though. While I enjoy both old and new tokusatsu, I absolutely LOVE
the old 70s anime like Gatchaman and Mazinger Z, while the new 90s anime
makes me want to throw up. I will retract my previous statement and note that there ARE gemstones
in the 90s. I found Macross Plus to be decent, and I love Shin Getta Robo. Evangelion was okay
in the first part, and Nadesico is a slightly amusing parody. The sad part
is that many 90s anime fans refuse to even consider the classics as actual shows, preferring to
classify them as "the past" and ignore them. Gatchaman keeps me riveted to my seat; Fushigi Yuugi
is the only anime that I have ever fallen asleep during (it was time better spent, let me tell you).
Why updating my page takes forever:
I look at the people who update every week and I think, "These are people who love their sites.
They truly care about what they do on the web." I, on the other hand, am doing this strictly
because I find it entertaining (well, helping fans out is another reason). Because of that,
this page will always take a back seat to homework, projects, and any other important deadlines
I have to meet. Not only is this page only updated in my spare time, but I have other stuff
to do with my spare time. I'd like to apologize to anybody who I may have pissed off with this
approach.
Pictures and other multimedia on this web site:
Because Geocities offers only a limited amount of space, my pictures will always be of somewhat
less-than-great quality, and the sounds will always be on RealPlayer. While I can't do much
about RealPlayer (*.wav's are disgustingly large), do ask if you would like a bigger and better
quality version of a picture you like (that I created - I can't do much for you if I didn't make
it). I also hear about people simply taking MP3s and recording them onto CDs and shrugging off
the moral problems to some other poor sap. I don't like this. For this reason, I use the
inferior RealPlayer standard. If you like it, support the company that made it by buying the
real CD.
Star Trek Vs. Star Wars:
Definitely Star Trek. Star Wars comes pretty close, though, and I WILL be seeing the prequel
on the big screen.
What to do with Iraq:
Nuke 'em. I did my Biology Term Paper on Chemical and Biological Weapons, so I know what I'm
talking about.
Tokusatsu Music:
It sounds strange, but after watching tokusatsu and its awesome music, I haven't really been
listening to American-made music lately. My radio's collecting dust. The 70s anime music
comes pretty close, but don't get me started on how idiotic most of the 90s anime music is.
Best decade must be the 80s.
Catch Phrases:
Call them stupid, but they're fun to say. The early Nadesico parody of them was okay, but
anybody else who thinks they're stupid sounding isn't doing them right.
CHENJI!!! GETTAAAAAA!!
My Social Security Number:
You don't really expect me to answer that, do you?
