Twisted Metal is a name that has been associated with the Playstation since the very beginning. The first two are both Greatest Hits and were exactly that. The first game was the first of its kind. You drove around US cities blowing eachother's cars up in a tournament of cahampions. The second promised the same only with better graphics, speed, more tracks and characters. Both were major hits are in the library of any Playstation gamer who knows what he buys. They were both two of my personal favorites and when I heard a third installment was being done I rejoiced and gave praise to the lord. Then I heard that it was going to be made by a fairly new company I had my doubts. The truth is that the game was done great by 989. the graphics are top notch, gaeplay is harder and faster, and they put their own touch on the game to make what I think is the best in the series. New weapons and vehicles are joined by old favorites, but it sticks to the basics from the first game, making it just as mucha nd even a little more fun.

The graphics are really great. The cars look realistic but the backgrounds could have used a little work. They come through for the point of the game but when your close its hard to tell what they are. The sounds however are the best part, besides the gameplay. Explosions are abundant and the machine-fun fire is just plain cool. Calypso( in case you haven't played any of the other games he is the man who runs the tournament and will give you your every wish if you can be the last survivor in the tourny) will greet you of each new level and give you a low-down on what you will face. So the graphics and sounds are good, who cares, is it fun. The answer is yes. Since you can play each character to the end to see what they wish for and what happens to them, there is also tons of replay value. There is also the possibility of 1-8 player combat so you can invite a horde of friends over and play 'em all.

Overall, its a game thats worth at least a rental and I recommend buying it if you have the cash, especially if you're a fan of the series or Vigilante 8.
