Arrived in humid Cancun. It took an hour for my luggage to arrive onto the caruosel. I had to check it in because the "no liquids" ban came just a week before I was about to go to Cancun. Also, I was still fighting off a cold, which I blame mostly due to personal life stress. So, I was kind of bitter, but I finally got to the Royal Sands Resort and met up with my sister, her friends, and my friend Patty.
Cancun is an island. I could not tell since there was no huge bridge, just a small bridge, but once the beginning of the island starts, there is a whole strip of hotels, no residentials, all hotels. Our resort was amazing. We were on the 7th floor overlooking the pool and beach. A gorgeous view of the amazing blue water. Our suite was sweeeettt too. In the living room, Patty and I had Murphy beds. There were two bedrooms and two baths, and a kitchen, and a balcony. It was nice.
We ate at the Haciendal Sisal, the resort's sister restaurant. I know you're supposed to get Mexican food in Mexico, but I was not feeling well at all and special ordered a salad with chicken. It came out to be an amazing platter of a salad, so I was completely happy. We also got to hear a mariachi band play while we ate.
Next, we went to Walmart. It's at the other end of the strip, and since the "Biggest Beach Party Ever" was happening, the bus ride took forever. But, the bus ride allowed us to see the night life, which included "Senor Frogs" and a bunch of other clubs. We did not end up going to any clubs during our trip, which I know I probably missed out on the experience, but it's something I'm fine with missing.
So, we went to Walmart, and I really wanted oranges. The only Narajos we found were had a green peel, but we got a huge bag. We were shopping for some meals we would eat back in our suite.
So tired from the flight, we finally went to sleep.
Today was just going to be a relaxing day.
In the morning, I had to go to the beach. I went into the water and got caught in the waves, but it was so nice and warm. Realized how much I love water and miss it soooo much!
Ate lunch.
Went into the huge pool at the resort.
Read "Life of Pi" which is a great book by the way.
Ate dinner.
Played tennis at night.
Another relaxing day
Patty and I rode beach combers. There was no trail though so we looked a bit silly riding on the sidewalk, but bike riding is fun no matter what.
We ate yummy tacos for lunch.
Sat on the beach to read.
Played ping-pong in their activities center with Patty, who beat me :)
Sat on the poolside with our happy hour strawberry smoothie (as opposed to daquiri)
Went to Market 28, which is very near Walmart. It's an open market that sells a lot of souvenirs for tourists. The one place to get your sombreros!
Went to Chinatown, which is just a plaza with a Chinese restaurant and a few other shops.
Ate dinner.
Watched "Weeds," which is really well written show and great characters, but I don't know how much this story adds to society. Could be a guilty pleaure if I had cable.
Here is the amazing view of the beach from our patio!
The amazing pool as seen from our patio!
Beach Buddies!
Yummy Taco!
