Kate Winslet has been acting since she was 13 years old. She first appeared on the London stage in the role of Pandora in the hit musical "Adrian Mole", Wendy in "Peter Pan", Sarah in "A Game of Soldiers", and Geraldine in "What the Butler Saw". The latter performance earned her a Manchester Evening News Award for best supporting actress. Kate then moved to British television, where her most well known role was Eleanor Sweet in the series "Get Back". Kate's first film experience came as Juliet Hulme, an estranged teenager in the film "Heavenly Creatures." For her performance, she recieved numerous international accolades, and an award from New Zealand. More recently, Kate appeared in "Sense and Sensability", again recieving critical and commercial raves. For that role, she earned nominations from the Screen Actor's Guild, an Academy Award Nomination, and a Golden Globe nomination in the same category. In the movie "Jude", she again recieved acclaim as she portrayed the heart-rendering Sue Bridehead. |
