Will Ferrell is Ron Burgundy, a big-shot news anchor in 1970s San Diego. Ron's reign over the newsroom is questioned when a hardworking feminist reporter, Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate), shows up and tears the station up with her new ideas. At first, Ron pretends he's hip to the changes, but when he tires of it, the true-blue chauvinist in him declares an all-out war.

What a colossal piece of crap. A lot of people seemed to like this movie, but my wife and I did not find it funny at all. If you're going to do dumb humor, you need some smart people around to play off the characters' stupidity, but all four members of the news team were dumber than dirt. Veronica had a few moments with Ron, but Ron's character was so one dimensionally stupid the movie just wasn't funny. I'm flabbergasted that anyone liked this debacle, because it didn't work for me at all. --Bill Alward, December 30, 2004
