A swanky New York City restaurant is a microcosm of the city in Michael Rauch's refreshingly irreverent romantic comedy. Adam (Joshua Leonard) and Chloe (Molly Ringwald) are a waiter and waitress struggling to find success in the Big Apple; they and their co-workers hash out their personal lives while trying to make ends meet. In the Weeds serves up a delicious slice of the single life, complete with thrills, heartache and everything in between.
Summary by http://www.netflix.com
This is a small ensemble film that feels like an off-off-Broadway play, and it's mildly entertaining. I hate to rip on a small film like this because I know how everyone involved pours their hearts into it with little compensation, but I don't understand how a movie like this gets funded. It offers a cast of stereotyped characters that go through the motions of a busy night in a restaurant. It doesn't have anything new to say, and it's not really funny. However, if you like small independent films about twenty-somethings in New York, you might like it. --Bill Alward, August 7, 2005
