Instead of going to summer camp with her friends, 14-year-old Emily (Evan Rachel Wood) decides to spend the vacation time practicing her violin to prepare for an all-important symphony tryout. She also makes herself available to the kids in the neighborhood as a sounding board: For a fee, she'll keep their secrets and sit through their tales of misdeeds. But soon, Emily must deal with secrets -- and problems -- of her own.
Summary from http://www.netflix.com
"Little Secrets" is so clean, it squeaks. Despite that, I loved it! I generally get bored during family films, because everything is so obvious and treacly, but this movie caught me with the violin. I love music, and there's some gorgeous classical music here. It kept me interested throughout, but I also enjoyed the 1950's, squeaky-clean naivete that believes in this idyllic world. It's actually a refreshing change to see something like this, and it has just the right amount of sentimentality to be heartwarming without being cloying. It's truly a treat. --Bill Alward, April 16, 2003
