Truman Burbank is an ordinary man living in a small town, and his entire life is a lie. The town is actually a movie set, and the townspeople (including his wife and best friend) are actors. Truman is the unwitting star of the most popular television show in history. It's "The Real World" meets "Candid Camera." Truman knows nothing about this, but he does start to suspect. How long will the show's producers be able to maintain the secret? What will happen if Truman discovers the truth?
