Directed by Peter Farrelly & Bobby Farrelly
The Farrelly brothers have done it again. They've made three fantastic films, Dumb and Dumber, Kingpin, and now "There's Something About Mary." They have a particular gross-out, over-the-top style of humor, which I find hilarious. In this film, Ted (Ben Stiller) has a disastrous prom night with Mary (Cameron Diaz). He still pines for her thirteen years later, so he hires a shady private detective (Matt Dillon) to find her. But there's just something about Mary, and Ted falls for her as well. What ensues is a gut-busting laugh riot. Cameron Diaz is excellent in the straight role, and Matt Dillon deserved an Oscar nomination for best supporting actor.
