French thriller about four desperate men, who are broke and stranded
in a backwater of Latin America. They sign up for a suicidal mission to
drive two truckloads of nitroglycerin 300 miles down a hazardous road.
The nitro is needed by an American oil company that exploits the local
workers. Much of the anti-American sentiment was cut originally for the
U.S. version in 1953, but it's restored in the director's cut.
