SICKO'S
SHRINE TO
LUCIO
FULCI'S ZOMBIE
In 1979,
Lucio Fulci directed an unauthorized entry in George A. Romero's living
dead series, funded by Italian producers who wanted a homespun version
of "Night Of The Living Dead" & "Dawn Of The Dead". The film
went on to become a cult classic in it's own right and it's been said to
have made more money than "Dawn Of The Dead". While's it's generally
reviled as a rip-off of "Dawn Of The Dead", true horror fans will recognize
it's similarity to Del Tenney's "I Eat Your Skin (aka Voodoo Bloodbath,
Zombies).
It wasn't
until late 1997 that I latched on to this little gem of a film and though
it has it's share of flaws, it's a genuinely scary film.
