WILL POWER....dubbed hollywood's next big thing, Matt Damon has come a long way onto Hollywood's most wanted list, into hearts of cinema audiences and towards the oscar podium. He recently received an Oscar award for Best Original Screenplay at the 70th Annual Academy Awards, in which he co-wrote Good Will Hunting with his long time buddy, Ben Affleck. They also won a golden globe award for the same category.
The film also won the Best Supporting Actor category - Robin Williams, for his role as the gifted therapist. The other seven nomimations were Best Actor(Damon), Best Supporting Actress(Driver), Best Director(Gus Van Sant), Best Original Dramatic Score, Original Song and Editing.
Last year, Damon played a crusading lawyer in John Grisham's The Rainmaker, directed by Francis Ford Copola. And after shooting Good Will Hunting, he went on to film Steven Spielberg's epic Saving Private Ryan, and then to Rounders.
He is currently working on two new films, Anthony Minghella's The Talented Mr. Ripley, and Kevin Smith's Dogma. Along the way, he will also co-write his next film, Halfway House with Ben Affleck. Oh, Matt has also just got the lead in Cormac McCarthy's All The Pretty Horses, a romance adventure story by director Billy Bob Thornton. So there is a lot to look forward to for all of Matt D's fans.
