Sam, O'neil, Teal'c and the General were already sitting down waiting for him, Daniel walked over and sat beside Sam, she glanced up at him and smiled 'just because you got sleep' he thought angrily, he sat and tried to concentrate on what the stupid general was saying, Daniel's eye lids felt heavy and he put his head in his arm that were crossed on the desk and slowly let himself go to sleep.
"Does any one have anything to add? Dr. Jackson?" Hammond asked and looked over at were Jackson had been seated, he raised an eye brow at the sleeping man, Sam looked at Daniel and came to his rescue "General Sir please let me explain" Sam said and the general nodded "Sir, Dr. Jackson was awake all our last mission and then once we came back to SGC you called us in to here straight away so he hasn't had time to get much needed sleep" she said and the general frowned "Why do you protect him? He can explain" he said and Sam looked at the sleeping Daniel, he looked so peaceful when he slept and she didn't want to wake him up "But sir…" O'neil said "Wake him Capt. Carter that's an order!" the general demanded getting angry, Sam nodded and softly shook her friend, he groaned and ignored her, Sam glanced up at O'neil who shrugged, Sam shook Daniel a little harder and he slowly opened his eyes "What in Christ's name do you people expect of me?" Daniel demanded as he stood and put his hands on his hips and glared at Hammond "Dr. Jackson that is no way to speak…" Hammond started but Daniel cut in "You don't remember that I'm not one of your little soldiers" Daniel said and turned and walked out of the room letting the door slam behind him.
Sam stared at the closed door "Wow!" she commented and O'neil just continued to stare "I never thought he had that in him" O'neil finally said and Sam nodded and stood "Permission to leave sir" she asked and saluted "If you can tell what that was about" he said and Sam rubbed her arms "Sir, that was a tired man reacting" she said and he nodded "Well it's still not right…" Hammond started but O'neil cut in "Permission to barge in sir?" he asked and Hammond nodded "Sir, Daniel was tired and reacted you shouldn't judge him on that, it won't happen again" O'neil said and Sam quickly agreed "Well it won't, I'm going to get sg-1 a new member" Hammond stated and stood "But sir we already have four" Sam exclaimed "Not any more" Hammond answered and Sam's jaw dropped "But sir…" O'neil started but Hammond waved him off "Go home" he said and exited the conference room.
Daniel grabbed his bag and flung it over his shoulder, he picked up the paper which said he was to go and rolled it in to a ball and took a shot at the bin, it flew straight in and he smiled and headed out of the locker room.
Sam stared at Daniel's empty locker and slammed the door, O'neil quickly came up to Sam and grabbed her shoulders "Sam what's wrong?" he asked sternly and she shrugged him off "What do you think" she replied nastily but O'neil didn't back down "Why is this bothering you so much?" he asked and she looked at her feet "It's so typically me, I don't move quick enough and then I loose them. It always happens" she said and O'neil's mouth dropped "You mean…" he said but couldn't finish, he cleared his throat "Let me try that again" he said and shoved his hands in his pockets "You 'like' him?" he asked and she nodded "More like 'I love him' she said and O'neil shook his head "Do you know if he feels the same way about you?" he asked and she looked back at her boots "No" she finally said "Well then… it's time for some match making" he said and she looked up at him astonished "No Jack, it'll just make things worst and if you haven't noticed he's 'married' and as in 'has a wife' " she said and he shook his head "Their not legally married and any way he's over her" he added and she looked up quickly "Really?" she asked and he nodded "How do you know?" she questioned and he grinned "I have my sources" he said and turned to leave but turned back "Go see him, he's gonna be lonely and I'm not blind but I think he cares about you quite deeply" he said and walked out of the locker room, Sam sighed and grabbed her bag and headed home.
After having dinner Sam laid down and channel surfed for a while, she sighed and grabbed the phone and dialled Daniel's number, she held it close to her ear waiting for him to pick up 'Hi, I'm not home right now like always but…' she listened to the message and was about to hang up when a voice clearly came through "Hello?" Daniel said in to the phone and Sam stayed quiet 'What do I say?' she asked her self "Hello, any one out there?" he demanded and Sam coughed "Hi Daniel it's Sam" she said and there was a few seconds of silence "What are you doing? Stalking me?" he teased and she laughed "Sorry, I was watching the news" she lied and he laughed "No you weren't" he answered and she smiled 'I already miss him' she thought "Are you calling me a liar?" she asked and he laughed "Yes, the news is on a eight and it's nine" he said and she chuckled "You got me" she admitted just pleased to talk to him "You wanna come over?" he asked and she nodded but realised he couldn't see her "Yeah, that'd be great" she said "Grab a movie why don't ya and we'll watch it, I'm sure I've got some popcorn around" he said and she smiled "Okay, see you at nine thirty" "Bye", Sam hung up the phone and laid back down on the couch and had a deep breath "Wow".
Daniel hung up the phone and took a deep breath and started to clean his apartment. Sam knocked on the door and it swung open "Come in" Daniel said and stepped aside, she entered and looked around "You cleaned" she noticed and he nodded "Well once you come in you don't come out" he answered and she chuckled "Where is it? Under the couch?" she asked and he looked guilty "Not exactly" he answered and she pulled a video out of her bag "What is it?" he asked and she handed it to him "Terminator" he read aloud "Yeah, it was all they had" "I haven't seen it" he commented and he turned the cover over "Arnold Schasineger is in it" she said and he nodded "Yeah 'and' Linda Hamilton" he said and Sam shot him a look of disbelief "You don't actually like her do you?" she asked and he nodded "Babe and a half" he said reading the cover over again "Well we'll see about that".
Daniel sat down on the couch and put his feet on the table, Sam walked over them and sat beside him and put the video on, after half an hour Daniel begun to grow impatient "Your not very patient are you" she teased as he kicked the table he turned to her and put the puppy dog eyes on her "Sorry" he said and turned back to the tv, after another minute he jumped up to make popcorn.
He came back in to the room and sat down again with the bowl, he passed it to her and she took a handful and slowly ate it, he resumed kicking the table and she looked at him annoyed "Come on, it's the sex scene" she said and he stopped the kicking and turned to the tv "Wow, known each other a day and they're already having it" he commented and Sam jabbed him in the side, he turned to her and grinned "What?" she demanded with a chuckle, he slowly lowed his head to hers and softy kissed her, she responded so he repeated the jester and soon enough they were both lying on the couch with their lips 'still' together.
Sam opened her eyes and looked up from were she lay on Daniel's chest, she noted that he was asleep and lowered her head back to his chest. Daniel awoke and ruffled his hair, he looked down at the lady on his chest and stroked her hair, he smiled to him self and closed his eyes again. Sam woke and softy got off of his bare chest and pulled his military shirt on, and walked out to the kitchen to get some coffee.
Daniel pulled on his pants but noticed his shirt was missing, he walked out in to the kitchen and saw Sam asleep on the couch, he crouched down and stroked her cheek, she opened her eyes and smiled, he picked her up by the waist and set her on her feet but she flopped forward and landed in his arms "Sorry" she muttered half asleep, Daniel picked her up and carried her in to the bedroom and pulled the quilt over her body, he crawled in beside her and she automatically hugged him "I love you Daniel" she said half asleep and he looked down surprise and hugged her and let her curl up to him "I love you too" he said and she snuggled in to his chest and went back to sleep. Daniel followed her and was soon asleep to.
Three hours later Daniel woke up and changed pants after a shower and put on another shirt, he walked out in to the kitchen and pulled out a pad of paper 'Sam. I'll be back to night, stay if you want but I just need some time to think. Daniel' he put a cup on the paper and grabbed his jacket and headed out.
Sam woke at midday and got up, she pulled on a pair of Daniel's sweat pants and a military shirt of his and headed out of the bedroom, she picked up the note and read it and as she did her heart died "Shit" she muttered and went to the phone "Hi Jack it's Sam" she said "Oh hi Sam, where are you calling from?" he asked "Daniel's" she answered and she heard a small whoopie that was meant to be blocked from the phone "I've got a problem" she said and he fell silent "What's wrong?" he asked and she took a deep breath "I woke up and he was gone but left a note" she said "So…" O'neil prompted "It said that he needed to think" she said and O'neil groaned "Thinking isn't worth it, look I'm sorry but I have to go but what ever happens don't let him go" O'neil said and hung up, Sam hung the phone up and kicked the table.
Daniel shoved his hands deeper in to his pockets and continued to walk along the bridge, he kicked a stone and watched it roll in to the drain, he glanced at his watch which read nine o'clock and turned back and started to walk back to his apartment in the rain.
Sam glanced at the v.c.r clock and started to get worried, she got up and went in to the kitchen and poured another cup of coffee, she looked up as the door closed and quickly walked out of the kitchen, she stared at the soaked figure of Daniel who was wringing out his jacket "Where have you been?!" she demanded hanging up the jacket while he took off his jumper and put it on the hook "Sorry, it started to rain" he said quietly and she calmed down "You okay?" she asked and he nodded and walked in to the kitchen to put the kettle on "Don't worry I'll do that" she said and pushed him out "Go have a hot shower or you'll freeze" she added and he raised an eyebrow "Yes mum" he said with a small smile and headed off to his bedroom.
When Sam heard the shower turn on she collapsed in a chair "I rushed it" she said to no one and hit her head with her hand "How could I have been so stupid?" she asked and she stood when she heard the shower turn off, she walked back in to the kitchen and put the coffee in two mugs, she looked up when Daniel came out wearing Jeans and a blue shirt "Thanks" he said as he took a mug and sat down in a chair, Sam came over and stood in front of him "Look Daniel, I'm sorry I rushed you, it was wrong and I'm sorry" she said and he looked up surprised "What are you talking about?" he asked and she sat down beside him "You needed to think I know what that means" she said an he shook his head and put down the coffee "Oh Sam" he muttered and she stood "Are you mocking me?" she asked and he quickly stood and grabbed her shoulders "No, I never would it's just that you thought…" he said trailing off and he then grinned and kissed her, she raised her eyebrows and kissed him back "Sam, I love you and nothing is going to change that and you need to know that, I just needed to think that's all" he told her hugging her tightly, Sam wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him deeper, they both fell off their chairs and on to the floor.
Daniel woke up and easily picked up Sam off of the floor and carried her in to the bedroom where he wrapped the blankets around her, as he turned to leave she grabbed his hand "Don't leave" she said and opened her tired eyes "You okay?" he asked and she nodded "Stay, please" she said and he nodded and went beside her under the covers, she rolled over so that she was half over his chest and put her head down on his chest "I love you" she whispered and he stroked her cheek "I love you too" he said and she smiled and leaned upwards and kissed him "I'd hope so" she said and closed her eyes and Daniel did the same.
Sam woke when the phone started to ring, she got up and pulled on Daniel's gown and picked the phone up "Hello?" "Hi Sam, I take it he's finished thinking" O'neil said and she chuckled "Do you have nothing else to do?" she asked and it was his turn to chuckle "Come on, you love birds have been putting it off since you met and you finally did it and you won't tell me" he said and Daniel wrapped his arms around Sam's waist, she turned and quickly kissed his cheek, she put her hand over the mouth piece and hugged him "I got dressed since you've got my robe" he told her quietly and she nodded and pointed to the phone "O'neil?" Daniel asked and she nodded, Daniel took the phone "You that bored O'neil" he said and O'neil laughed "Yeah I guess, well I'm really pleased for you guys but I rang about some other information" O'neil said and Daniel raised his eyebrows "What's up?" he asked and O'neil cleared his throat "Hammond wants you back" he said and Daniel glanced at Sam who was waiting "And he expects me to take him up?!?" Daniel said and O'neil coughed in surprise "If you won't do it for him do it for Me, Sam and Teal'c" O'neil said and Daniel sighed "I'll think about it" he said and hung up.
Daniel put the phone and collapsed in a chair Sam quickly sat beside him "What's wrong?" she asked and he shrugged "Hammond wants me back" he said and she smiled "Great!" she exclaimed and he turned to her "Yeah, but he can fire me any time he wants cause I'm not military" he said and she curled up beside him and he put an arm around her "But if you weren't military we couldn't be here like we are right now" she commented and he grinned "And that would have stopped me?" he teased and she pulled him to his feet "Please come back" she said and he ran a hand through his messy hair "I don't know" he said and she sighed "For sg-1" she added and he smiled after a minute "I'll think about it".
Daniel drove up to the outer gates and the officer on duty motioned for him to stop "Good to see you Dr. Jackson" he said and saluted, Daniel returned the salute and smiled "Yeah, it's my life now" he said and drove forward in to the mountain.
Sam finished off her coffee and dropped to O'neil's pace "So anything new?" she asked and he shrugged "Daniel's coming back, gates quiet" he said and Sam stopped "Daniel's coming back?" she asked and O'neil nodded "When's he coming?" she asked, O'neil looked at his watch and then at the elevator which opened and Daniel stepped out "Now apparently" O'neil said but Sam was already half way to Daniel.
Daniel smiled when he saw Sam and walked forwards, he caught her in his arms and she hugged him fiercely "I'm so pleased your back" she said and he pulled back and gave her a lopsided "Nothing else to do" he commented and she smiled, O'neil came up and patted him on the back "Great to see you but obviously not as much as Sam" he said and they all smiled "Where's Teal'c?" Daniel asked and Teal'c walked up the corridor to them "Good to see you Dr. Jackson" Teal'c said and Daniel nodded and let Sam go.
General Hammond looked up as Sg-1 entered "Please sit down" he said and they all sat in their chairs "Good to have you back Dr. Jackson" he added and Daniel continued to look at him "Sir, why were we called in?" O'neil asked and Hammond broke away from the staring contest "I just wanted to say a well done on your last mission" Hammond said and they all nodded and stood "Permission to leave sir" Sam asked and Hammond saluted "Permission granted, and well done" he said and they all left.
Sam ran to the elevator and held the doors open so she could get in, she picked the 'close' on the control and turned to see who else was in the elevator "Hi" Daniel said and she smiled "Hi, why didn't you hold the elevator for me?" she asked and he walked over to her and kissed her softly on the lips, Sam pulled back after a minute and quickly glanced around the elevator to make sure no one else was in there, she then turned back to Daniel satisfied and kissed him, Daniel chuckled and Sam pulled back "What?" she demanded and he laughed "What am I going to do with you?" he asked and she smiled "Put up with me" she answered and kissed him again.
