She let her finger sit on her lips remembering what it had felt like to kiss him, in the last few minutes before he had gone through he gate the gou'ald Ra had let Daniel have control and he had kissed her, she smiled fondly at the thought which was now a memory and prayed that he would come back okay.
Ra looked around the desert planet where his temple sat on a hill over looking the great hills of dirt, the host called Daniel struggled with him constantly and he was growing tired over it, the sleepless nights and the constant battle during the day 'Oh well' he thought and the host daniel heard him 'Am I finally getting to you?' he teased and the gou'ald scowled 'No' he answered and the host grew quiet again.
Daniel watched through his eyes but they were controlled by the gou'ald inside of him, the gou'ald turned his head and then his body and headed back in to the temple.
Sam finally couldn't stand it any more and got up and headed to the control room, as she entered Julia, the person on duty smiled "Morning" she said and Sam sat beside her "All quiet?" she asked and Julia nodded "As a baby" she said and as she said it O'neil walked in, Sam turned to him "Couldn't sleep either?" he guessed and Sam nodded "Oh well, might go down to the gym" he told them and Sam nodded and he left "Nice guy" Julia commented while watching the retreating back of Colonel O'neil "Yeah, he's a good friend" she said and Julia nodded "Oh well, I'm going to get a coffee, how about you?" Sam asked getting up and walking to the door "Yeah, wait up I'm coming".
As the gou'ald slept inside of Daniel, Daniel woke him self up and started to fight Ra with his subconscious, the gou'ald finally gave up and slid out of his mouth on to the floor, Daniel got up but collapsed from the newness of working his own legs so he crawled over to it and pulled of his camouflage boat and brought it down on it, he then rubbed the yellow guts off of his boat and pulled him self back on to the bed "G-o-o-d b-y-e" he said spitting on the dead gou'ald while trying to talk on his own.
Sam and Julia headed back down with the coffee while talking but started to run when the alarm for and off world open was activated.
"What's wrong?!?" O'neil demanded as he ran in to the control booth and stared at the frantic girls "We don't know, the iris is failing and the gates being opened by another world" Sam said frantically and O'neil looked at the gate as the seven co-ordinates locked in and the liquid burst out, O'neil's jaw dropped when he saw Lyla step through with two other people "What's going…" Hammond demanded as he walked in and stared at O'neil who was staring at the gate.
Lyla turned to the figure who was helping another person stand and smiled, the figure smiled back weakly and Lyla looked back up at the control room.
O'neil, Sam and General Hammond made their way down the stairs and stood in front of Lyla, O'neil cleared his throat and stepped forward and Lyla walked back and helped the black coated figure forward and pulled his hood down, Sam stared in amazement and slowly stepped forward so she was standing beside O'neil, Daniel continued to lean on Lyla's shoulder but suddenly collapsed in a bundle on the ground, Lyla knelt down beside him and checked his pulse. She looked up at O'neil and Hammond "He needs medical help" she said and Hammond went to the intercom and called Dr. Frasier.
Lyla and the other person sat at the table with the general, O'neil and Sam and also Teal'c "So, how did you get him?" Hammond asked and Lyla put down her glass of water and turned to him "His gou'ald had escaped to a planet in which we mine Naquada and Ra left us alone until I recognised his host which was Daniel, but there was nothing I could do until as far as I can tell Daniel rejected the gou'ald and we found Daniel half dead buried in the sand about a mile from the temple and heading towards the star gate, we took him back to our planet and started the healing process" she told them and Sam nodded "How did you heal him because the gou'alds eat up the cells needed to heal?" she asked and Lyla turned to her "I like Daniel and so I healed him but you don't need to know how" she said simply and Sam looked at the piece of paper in front of her "Captain Carter was not trying to get your knowledge but I think she was asking if he'll live" Hammond said and Lyla nodded "Humans like you do not have a certain cell type needed to be healed by the gou'alds but the Knox have now and so we gave it to him" she answered and O'neil nodded "So you screwed with his blood" he asked sarcastically and Lyla turned to him "I know you must be upset with what we've done but it was to save his life and he is know part Know and part you which means he's the link between our two planets" she explained and Teal'c nodded "That is a wise thing" he commented and Lyla smiled slightly "He is the link to us and our technology" she stated, Dr. Frasier walked in and smiled "Well…" Hammond prompted and she turned serious "He's in a small coma but should be okay, it's his blood I'm interested about it seems to have been tampered with and…" she started but Hammond held up his hand "We'll talk about this later" he said and Frasier nodded and left.
"May I see him?" Lyla asked and the general looked to O'neil who shrugged and Hammond nodded "I'm sure Captain Carter will take you" he said and Sam nodded and walked to the door where Lyla joined her and they headed off towards the infirmary.
"So Cap. Carter" Lyla said as the stepped in to the lift and Sam hit the down button "Please, it's Sam" she said and Lyla smiled "Thank you" Lyla answered and waited until the elevator stopped "What sort of changes are likely to happen?" Sam asked suddenly and Lyla turned to her "Not many, he'll be able to talk our language and work our technology and maybe some other small changes but they will be small" she said and Sam nodded and opened the door for her to enter the infirmary, they walked up to Dr. Frasier who told them where he was and they headed for room four.
Daniel weakly opened his eyes when he heard some one enter, his face lit up when he saw Sam and Lyla "Hi" he said softly and Sam sat down on the edge of the bed and pushed him back down on to the bed and stroked his forehead tenderly, Lyla smiled and cut in "How are you feeling?" she asked and he turned to her "Been better" he said and she nodded and pulled up a chair and sat down "How long was the gou'ald inside of you?" Lyla asked and Daniel shrugged to the best of his ability "Don't know. But it was about a week and a half at the most" he said and she nodded, and pulled back his hair and looked at a faint line down his right side of his neck "What was it like?" she asked and he flinched "Like watching the world on a far away tv screen" he answered and lay back down, Sam pulled up the blankets and watched him close his eyes and drift off again.
Lyla stood and walked out and Sam followed after planting a kiss on his forehead, she started to walk down the corridor but noticed Lyla up ahead and ran to catch up to her "Thank you" Sam said as she caught up "Why are you thanking me?" Lyla asked with raised eyebrows "Thank you for bring him back" Sam explained and Lyla looked ahead "You really like him don't you?" she asked and Sam blushed "Of course, he's my friend" Sam said and a small chuckle came from Lyla "What?" asked Sam as they stepped in to the elevator "You 'like' him don't you" Lyla repeated and Sam nodded "Yeah, is it that obvious?" Sam asked and Lyla shook her head "Only to a female and there aren't many around here" she observed and Sam sighed in relief.
O'neil looked up when Lyla and Sam returned "Hi, how is he?" he asked and Sam smiled "He should be fine" she told him and he grinned "I'll give him a visit later, poor guy must be lonely" O'neil said and Sam nodded "I think that would be wise" Lyla said and then turned to General Hammond "I must go now" she said "Not with out saying goodbye!" Daniel shouted from where he leant on the door frame, Sam quickly rushed over "What are you doing here!?!" she demanded and he grinned "Uh, is that a trick question, mum" he teased and O'neil chuckled "Let him be Sam, we'll take him back after he sees Lyla leave" O'neil said getting under Daniel's shoulder and helped him to the gate room.
Lyla smiled and took Daniel's hands in hers and gently kissed him cheek "I'll miss you" she said and walked up to the gate, the liquid appeared suddenly she turned back "Look after your self" she added and Daniel smiled "Sure will doc" he teased and she stepped through the liquid followed by the other Knox and headed back to their home.
