"Does that still mean I can go?" Jack nodded and gestured to the village with his hand "Knock yourself out" Daniel's face lit up with a full smile "Gee! Thanks Jack, I'll be off and will be back in". Jack shook his head and picked up his pack "No way Danny, I'm coming with you. There's got to be someone there to shoot the villagers". "Colonel O'neil! Why would you want to shoot innocent people?!?" Teal'c asked, retrieving his pack and facing the two other men. Jack growled deeply "Aliens!" he muttered before turning to the Jaffa "I'm not going to shoot innocent people Teal'c!" The jaffa frown deepened "But you said so yourself". "Well, someone had to save them from a ranting Daniel" Jack answered, glancing at an amused Daniel, who quickly wiped the smirk off of his face. "What?". "But I still do not get why you would kill the villagers". Sam walked up to the three guys and tossed Teal'c his staff weapon. "Don't worry Teal'c, itís Jack humour" The jaffa looked at the lady and nodded "Oh! I see", he grasped his staff weapon and headed off towards the village with a chuckling Sam Carter following.
"So Teal'c was finally able to start coping with the so called O'neil humour but in the mean time, Jack was starting to get angry, VERY angry" "Hey! It was funny! As in HAH HAH!" Jack turned to Daniel "Daniel, you laughed didn't you?" he asked and Daniel nodded "At you yes, at you joke", sorry Jack" Daniel turned and followed after Sam and Teal'c. "So as always, Jack O'neil coped with the rejection of one of his jokes with something either rude or mean" "I hope you fall on your butt in front of those people!" Jack shouted angrily after them. "Told ya so" He sighed and shouldered his pack and shook his head "You must be getting old O'neil" he muttered before following. Sam finally stopped laughing at Jack and Daniel and was able to breath and unwrap her arm from around her waist. "Mental note- don't laugh so hard" she chuckled one last time and waited for the other two to catch up.
"Nice of you to join us" Carter smiled at the scowl written over her commanding officers face "No hard feelings, sir" he just continued to scowl and she shook her head "Sir, really, can't you take a joke?". O'neil crossed his arms "Not when it's aimed at me" he started to pout and then realised what he was doing. "Where's Daniel?" he asked, looking behind his shoulder and to the paths side. Daniel gave Jack an annoyed glare "It has two signs, one points to the village we saw smoke coming from and the other to the stargate". Jack sighed "Well, what do they say?". Daniel turned to look at him like he was an idiot "Well, gee Jack! I think they say to the village and to the stargate". Jack was about to argue to his own defence when Sam cut in. "Oh man! The colonel's humour is wearing off on Daniel!" They both turned to stare at her "Sam! that's mean." "That's enough from you Captain". Sam was about to add yet another comment when Teal'c, who had been watching rather amused, cut in. ìI do believe we may wish to reach the village before sunsetî Jack looked up and saw the darkening sky.
"Shit! Okay campers, lets get ourselves to a village". They all headed off, with only a few more smart arsed comments from Sam. "Our cheerful team set of through the jungle, singing and laughing and reminiscing about old times" ìDaniel, watch those rootsî Jack warned pulling Daniel up from the ground again, Daniel dusted himself off and continued to walk ìI try jack, but they all seem to have it in for meî. Jack gave Daniel a knowing look "Yes Daniel, the roots have a mind of their own. "By now Daniel has only have minor injuries, but as all our stories, we have to give him a little more harm, after all, I am the narrator! And Daniel had this knack of getting into trouble" "Hey! I do not!" "Do to!" "I do not!" "Yes you do!" "Do not! JACK!" Jack glared at Daniel annoyed "Daniel! Are you fighting with the narrator again?". "No" Daniel glared once more at the sky, then continued walking, only to trip over another root. Jack grabbed him just before he hit the ground.
"Hey! I saw that one. You did that on purpose!" "He had it coming!" "Did not!' "Did too!"Sam turned around and grabbed Jack's sleeve, "Come on sir, it's best to leave the narrator alone". "Once again the three heroís set off plus one geek. And made their way towards the rising smoke" Daniel turned and glared back up at the sky, but continued on. "Geek my arse" "And what a cute one it is at that" Daniel suddenly sped up a lot. Finally, they got to the edge of the woods. Which led out into the nice little village. They entered the village cautiously and were quickly surrounded by curious people. Daniel was quickly whisked off, like always. "Oh! By the way, any of you native girls touch him, I'll get you all" And so Jack stayed back with Sam and Teal'c, watching as Daniel went away to learn some ancient cultural stuff".
"Damnit, Daniel's gone again!" Sam sighed "Don't worry sir, you know him" "That's excactly the problem, I *DO* know him" Jack growled as Sam shook her head. "Sir, Daniel's very sensible, mature and would never do anything". "Both were suddenly cut off by the annoyingly annoying scientist" "Gravedigger!". "Sorry Jack, forgot!" "Jack! We have to go! NOW!" Daniel came sprinting right for them. "What have you done now Daniel?!" Daniel stopped and tried to catch him breath, he gestured towards the stargate path "Come on! We have to go!". Daniel started off again but Jack grabbed him. "Daniel! What's wrong?". Daniel seemed to pause for a minute then he suddenly grabbed his bag and moved away from the village. With Sam, Teal'c and one very annoyed Colonel trailing after them.
"Monsters!" Jack caught up to Daniel who was almost running now. "Monsters?". Daniel paused again but then nodded "Yeah, the villagers said they eat any new arrivals". Jack frowned. "Again" "Daniel, I'm sure their just stories" Daniel turned to him, fear in their eyes "No! the villagers have seen them eat people before. They warned me". Jack quickly made a decision. "Let's head home, we'll send someone else back here, they'll have more ammo". Daniel nodded eagerly and started jogging. "Daniel!" Jack sighed and they all spread up to stay with the younger man. "Okay, I have a really bad feeling about this" Jack for once was having a hard time keeping up with the stricken anthropologist.
"Daniel! Damn it! Slow down!" "Run Daniel Run!" "He can't hear you sir" Jack glared at Carter who was running madly beside him "I've never seen him so well terrified". They finally entered the small field. Daniel was already at the DHD, punching in chevrons furiously. "Daniel, you sure?" Daniel looked up as the gate engaged "Ohhh yeah, VERY sure". "Okay, but has anyone noticed how eager he is to get ba-" "Shut up!" Daniel hissed. "Oh! I get it!" Daniel turned back to Jack "Are you sure there's monsters?" Daniel frowned "What monsters? Oh! Those monster! Yes Jack, I'm very sure". Jack nodded and turned back to the gate, gave the surrounding area one last look and stepped through. Followed by Sam and then Teal'c.
"All right you! Listen here, if you rat I'll have you for lunch!" Daniel glared around, suspiciously. "Fine, but what do I get out of it?" "You get to live" "I don't get it, what's so important, I take it there are no monsters" Daniel sighed "'X files'". "What?" Daniel scowled and stepped towards the opened gate "Never mind". General Hammond smiled at his team as they stepped out, Jack then Sam and Teal'c and then finally Daniel. Daniel glanced around and then at his watch "Oh shit" he looked up and then towards Jack, who was talking to Hammond. "May I please be excused?" Jack turned around and fixed him with a concerned frown ìAre you okay?".
Daniel nodded "Bit of a headache" Jack nodded towards the exit "Go on then, we'll debrief the General" Daniel smiled his thanks and headed off towards the door. Jack watched him go "What a weird kid". Once Daniel exited the gate room he broke into a sprint. "What's the hurry?" Daniel just spread up, rounded another corner and almost flew straight into a passing airman. He was up and running again before the poor airman knew what hit him. He finally came across his destination and he ran in, jumped and landed on the soft cushion. With one quick motion the tv sprang to life and he kicked off his shoes. "Ahh".
Jack walked around the corner "A drink and then maybe a little sleep" he opened the door and stepped in. "What the f-" "What your language!" "Fine! What the". Jack smiled as he saw Daniel "Well I'll be damned!". Daniel looked up, shocked. "Oh Jack! I'm sorry, I can go". Jack shook his head and gestured for Daniel to shove along. "I love this show!". "What?! This isn't in the script! I'm meant to be a hero! NO!!!" Daniel razed an eyebrow "I never pictured you a sci-fi fan" Jack grinned "There's a lot you don't know about me Daniel, quite a lot". The two continued to watch, both dazed at this sudden discovery. Sam snuck around the next corner "Can't let anyone see you Sam" she opened the door and finally snuck in. "Why hello Sam!" Sam swallowed "Oh, sorry guys" Jack laughed "Let me guess 'X-files' fan?".
Sam smiled guiltily "Um yeah". Daniel patted the couch spot beside him "Come on then, you missed the best bit!" Sam sat down and grinned at the other two "Well I'll be damned". Teal'c couldn't find anyone. Jack had disappeared soon after Daniel and with Sam following only minutes later. General Hammond was as puzzled as him, and had sent him to locate his missing team members. And he thought he'd finally found them. Bizarre noises could be heard from the rec room. Teal'c didn't know who 'Cancer man' was but he didn't like the name very much. Teal'c came to the door and peered in. They were all in here. "What are you all doi-". "Shhhh!" the chorus rang up from them all and they turned back to the tv. Teal'c walked in and closed the door after him "What is this?" "Shhh!". He gave in and sat down in one of the chairs. This show was weird. One of the many they'd showed on this tv. He didn't get it. Why would someone have a first name that was an earth animal. Humans! He'd never get them.
