  After a montage of scenes where Leon and Mathilda make hits on people, the two of them arrive in another apartment hallway. MATHILDA: This one doesn't have a doorbell. LEON: So knock. (Mathilda knocks.) VOICE: Hello? MATHILDA: Hello, I'm looking for Mister Rubens. It's dark out here. I can't see anything. I'm scared. VOICE: Okay little girl, just a minute.    As the door begins to open Leon leans in to catch a quick glimpse of a lever being pulled on a gun. He grabs Mathilda and swings her around to the other side of the door as a barrage of bullets come blasting through, tearing up the door and opposite wall in the process. VOICE: Come on motherfucker, you think you're going to get me! Keep it up! Check this out. Fucking come on! LEON: When it's tough like this, you better make it quick before he kills us all with his talking. Hey! You know the Ring Trick? VOICE: Ring Trick? Let's see it motherfucker! Leon tosses a grenade in through a bullet chewed gap in the door. An enormous burst of flames shoot out of the door, hitting Leon's back as he protects Mathilda with his body.   LEON: (holding a grenade pin up) That's the ring trick. Mathilda looks up at him, buried in his arms, genuinely scared and trembling.
