Continuity Problems
- Dawson worships Steven Spielberg. So why was there a "Misery" poster in his room that wasn't there before?
- The Capeside high school mascot is the Wildcat, and the school colors are
blue and gold.
- ...but in the first episode, the sign is black and orange and so are some of the lockers. In third episode, the same sign was blue and gold.
- In the pilot episode when Jen is talking to Nellie, she has a
black drawstring bookbag. But when she enters the biology room, she has a tan Eastpack.
- The man who plays Bob in "Carnal Knowledge" is a different person than the man who played him in the pilot episode.
- Also, Bodie is played by a different person now than in the pilot episode. (Thanks Stacy!)
- The school mascot is the Wildcat, but on the front of the gym shirts is a picture of a minuteman.
- Throughout "Blown Away" Dawson's mom's hair slowly gets darker.
- In "The Breakfast Club," there are three different clocks shown in the same spot in the library.
- Nellie is in Dawson's film class, which means she must be at least a year older than he and Pacey are. So then why is she in Pacey's English class?
- In the first two episodes, Ms. Jacob's desk is on the right side of the room, and the door is on the left. But in the last few episodes, her desk has been on the left, and the door has been on the right.
- Joey asked to rent the "The English Patient" and is handed a videotape, when in reality, due to its length, it takes two tapes to view the entire movie.
- When Dawson goes over to Joey's house to ask her advice on Billy, we see that Joey and Dawson are wearing the same clothes they were wearing the day before.
- In "Prelude to a Kiss" when Jen and Dawson are hurrying to move their equipment because Tamara and Pacey are entering the ruins, they leave the TV sitting on a bench, and the power is off. Yet when the camera pans back to the TV on the bench again, it is on and shows Tamara and Pacey making love.
- In "Escape from New York," Joey leaves the house for school in the morning without any shoes on. When she gets to
school, however, she's wearing shoes.
- Also in "Escape from New York," Dawson's computer is on a desk opposite his bed. In the pilot, his computer
is in a shelf next to his bed, and it's only a screen.
- In the pilot episode, Dawson had a "Schindler's List" poster on the left door of his closet and a " The Color Purple" poster on the right door of his closet. Ever since, there has been a "Hook" poster on the right door and a "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" poster on the left door.
- In "Prelude to a Kiss" Joey goes to Anderson at the end when he gives her his phone number. When he asks if he can walk her anywhere she tells him, "No you have to stay here in the moonlight. It's where you belong." Unfortunately for Joey, the sun was out, not the moon. (Thanks Stacy!)
- In the pilot episode the wall is barren above Dawson's bed. Ever since then, there's been a collage of things above his bed. There's pictures, and other little such things, including a sign reading "Dawson St."
- In "The Scare," when Joey, Pacey, and Dawson leave Dawson's house, it's the middle of afternoon. But when they get to the grocery store it's nighttime.
- Dawson has two different lockers, one by Pacey in "The Scare" and a totally different one in "Breaking Away."
- In "Prelude to a Kiss" when Joey hears Anderson playing the violin the first time, she takes off her apron and puts it behind her back. When we see her from the front, she has her arms folded. But when we cut to the back, she's holding the apron again.

The Kevin Williamson Connections
- A "Scream" connection: The Realto theater that everyone goes to is the same theater where Jada Pinkett and her boyfriend went in the opening of "Scream 2."
- Another "Scream" connection: Mr. Gold (Dawson's film teacher) is also the name of Neve Campbell's drama teacher in "Scream 2."
- There have been at least six "I Know What You Did Last Summer" posters around the set.
- In the movie "I Know What You Did Last Summer," the name of the beach in the beginning was called "Dawson's Beach."
- Michelle Williams has been cast in the movie "Halloween 7" written by Kevin Williamson
- Katie Holmes has been cast in the movie "Killing Ms. Tingle." This movie was written by Kevin Williamson.
- ...AND in "The Breakfast Club," the librarian's name was Mrs. Tingle. (Although Abby called her "Mrs. Tringle")
- Kevin Williamson seems to have a thing with dead mothers. In "Scream," Sidney's mother was murdered, and in Dawson's Creek, Joey's mother died of cancer.
- Have you noticed that Randy from "Scream" and Dawson and Pacey from Dawson's Creek work in video stores?
- In "I Know What You Did Last Summer," Helen calls Barry "Mr. Man-Meat," which is also the name that Gail called Mitch in the first episode.

Pacey kissed.
- Nellie Olsen almost always wears red, pink, or lavender.
- In "Blown Away," there is a weather report shown on the TV at Dawson's house. There is a man
shown on a bridge. That's the show's director.
- The boat shown in almost every episode is called the "Prowler."
- The props crew needs to get it together. The sign at the school is black and white, then yellow and blue, and then black and white again.
- A ship in the creek is named "Dawson's Delight."
- Bessie was not rowing the boat in "Look Who's Talking." It was being pulled by a rope.
- Tamara is right handed.
- In the original presentation video shown to the WB execs, both Joey AND Dawson saw his mom kiss Bob the anchorman. The scene was shot six different ways, and for a long time they were struggling between the Joey-and-Dawson shot or the just Joey shot, which they obviously chose in the end.
- In the episode "The Breakfast Club," there are a lot of similarites to the actual movie. Here are a few:
- ...they run at the end to make it back to class to avoid getting caught by the "ominous scary teacher."
- ...all the kids are popular actors at the time, but where will they be ten years from now?
- In "The Breakfast Club", Jen and Pacey are supposed to kiss for 10 seconds, but they actually kiss for 15 seconds. Joey and Dawson are supposed to kiss for 15 seconds but they actually kiss for 26 seconds.
- In "Dirty Dancing" when Joey and Dawson are walking home from the dance, Dawson is whining about his plans not working. Katie Holmes says, "the remote on the rewind of life doesn't work" instead of "the rewind on the remote of life doesn't work." She caught it and was about to start laughing but James continued on with the scene.
- During the theme song, Dawson, Joey, Jen and Pacey are all wearing the same clothes that they wore
in the pilot when they went to the movies.
- Ever since Billy made fun of Dawson's ET doll, there has been a Jaws shark on Dawson's bed instead.
- Paula Cole's song "I Don't Want to Wait" was not supposed to be the original theme song for Dawson's Creek. Alanis Morrisette's "Learn" was, but she didn't feel comfortable with having her song on a TV show.
