Grandchildren

Oh, How we love to see them come
Their voices, their joys, their smiles
They laugh and play with utmost glee
Especially if it's been quite a while

A hug, a kiss, and that laugh as we meet
Give pleasure that words can not say
A touch of the hand that holds so tight
Is warmth that makes my day

Their stay at Grandma's house
Enlivens these walls once more
Of children's little pitter patter of feet
As they enter through my door

Their lively personalities bring back to me
Memories of my own children's days
So precious were they, that I've now a repeat
Of my grandchildren as they come to stay

If God would give us a special gift
A choice that's ours alone
We'd take those happy precious ones
Our grandchildren, our very own
