Ash's Hand plays an important role in 'Evil Dead II'. Not only does it torment Ash, making him chop it off so he adds his "groovy" chainsaw later. The hand also is the reason for two of the characters deaths in the movie. When Bobby Joe realizes a decapitated hand is holding her own, she bolts from the cabin leading to her death. While Linda is trying to read the lines from the book of the dead, the hand stabs her with the bone/ skull knife and also kills her. That's why I think Ash's hand is a major part and star of the movie all by itself!
